Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Populist policies never fail. It’s always somebody else’s fault.

Do just enough the ensure that the masses continue to be brainwashed. It’s not even the question of failure.

Speaking of brainwashing and undercutting democracies from within. But meanwhile, hey a vote for Trump is a vote against democracy.

So, what’s your alternative? Dictatorship? Monarchy? Oligarchy?

It’s easy to criticise, especially in a system that doesn’t jail you for expressing your opinion.

My best guess is he’s saying it was always an oligarchy masquerading as a democracy. The evidence would suggest that could very well be the case, including Biden’s and the Dems’ shenanigans. But maybe I understood him incorrectly and he’s really Plato.

Believing is seeing

In that case, which i agree with, what’s needed is more democracy, not less.

Interesting to see Biden now musing that he should not have withdrawn, and he should have picked a more aggressive AG than Merrick Garland. At least the second is probably true. I see no prospect of him outperforming Harris in the election.

Of all the lessons to have taken from this election result this about the dumbest one possible, and the fact he can arrive at the conclusion and think it worth sharing is a great illustration of how we got here.

Beyond dumb. It’s corrupt and malpractice.

I started out with an H1B as well right at the start of the 2000s. My idea was to do the same as you. Then 9/11 happened (literally right in front of me, used to work in Battery Park City) and things started to shift. And I eventually decided to move back, in the balance of things.

Guess who…

“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,”

I think the best bit is the ‘on my properties’, which completely debunks Musk’s rationalization of the necessity of the program. Not too many top engineers and the like working at Mar-a-Lago

His wife probably had one too :hushed:

Nah, she came in illegally after overstaying under a different program.

You’re right, sir. I just checked. She allegedly had an Einstein visa, which I would have thought only @SBYM could obtain.

You just know his favourite element of the program is the employer holding the visa.

Seriously though, people in segments of twitter I sometimes frequent, are having a grand old time with this. It’s like a Party Game for Twitter Users really.

Of course, the likely explanation is trump confused his H2B workers (non-skilled, typically seasonal workers in mostly Ag and tourism) for the H1B visa being discussed.

Stable genius
