This guy is an absolute joy. I was in the camp before the Newcastle game who said there were no concerns about his ability to play the role only about how he’d take something that could easily be interpreted as “we’re moving you around because you are less important to our midfield than these other guys”. He’s not only met my very high expectations, he’s exceeded them defensively and WAY exceeded them in terms of the enthusiasm he’s put into the job.
I think the best think you could say about it is that Milner would be proud of him.

I don’t know what got into me but I was so uncharacteristically confident it would be a goal (I thought he could score them from a greater distance but not from anywhere around the box) that I entered the word “magician” into Google Translate (from English to Hungarian, obviously) to send to my LFC-supporting friends that I share a Viber group with.
I really wish I could go through life imagining good things would happen - and they actually happened. Obviously, this was a one-off, so you’re barred from ever using my lapses of positivity against me.

His general reaction to us signing Wirtz is a bit like Gini’s reaction when we signed Naby.
Although I have no doubt in his professionalism even if we didn’t sign Wirtz, I trust he would’ve been as ready as he is (though for me, Gravenberch ended pre-season in the best shape in all aspects).
Slot said a few days ago that passes into space were missing from him last season. Numbers weren’t good enough and there wasn’t enough creativity. Pressing was outstanding. But we need more.
Even Szobo seems to be telling Slot that he think he’s better a bit deeper than the #10 position. So far, I didn’t like him too much in the double pivot spots, especially the left one.
Amazing “assist” against Newcastle (great move, but it was Szobo’s decision that was the biggest difference) and free-kick against Arsenal. He does love knuckle shooting everything.
Let’s see how it all evolves once we finally have our main players back in their normal shape; Gravenberch and Mac Allister together. Maybe Gakpo or Wirtz would be dropped, on current form.
Please let’s not go there with the Gerrard comparisons.
