Closest I got to that was Seaford Beach. it was WC 2003 when I was in Melbourne so we spent a lot of time in the city, before venturing over to Bells Beach/Torquay for a few days
My sister in-law lives over in Melbourne. Really need to go visit the land down under at some point. Have otherfriends and family in Melboure, Perth and Sydney. Itās the cost and impracticalities of a long haul holiday holding us back from heading there on holidayā¦and the death noodles and various other scary/nasty creatures.
yes i live very near it in bayside.
for real?
whered you grow up.
im a seaford boy.
LOL,
the beach at the pier?..we used to jump off that as kids all summer long.
if you got fish and chips circa 2003 you would have seen my team group photo up on the wall
what is a death noodle?
any one of the 10 snakes in Aus thatāll kill ya.
I was there just before the Aussie cricket team coach got punched out and died at that bar in St Kilda.
ahhh okā¦i was thinking maybe a blue ringed octopusā¦
never heard them called death noodlesā¦but all good
they filmed a scene from Mad max 1 at seaford peirā¦i think americans relabelled the movie āroadwarriorā not sure about canadaā¦it was aseminal australian movieā¦
and bouncer jumped off the peir in an episode of neighbors once to our hilarityā¦ātheres strong currents thereā was the lineā¦(there are no currents at seaford beach)
I believe they filmed Mad Max 2 - Road Warrior at Broken Hill, which was quite close to where I spent time in Mildura working for Jacobās Creek.
Ye dudeā¦
Grew up in the Eastern suburbs (Forest Hill, Vermont) but spent plenty of time down the Peninsula.
My wife and mother had a small business, so markets in Red Hill, Mornington, Portsea. Used to visit Point Leo with my bestie when I was 12-ish. My next bestie, his aunt owned the Conti in Sorrento for years, and we usually headed down there for NYE from about 17 onward. And we did a few pre-season camps down at Rye.
Ohā¦and my brother nearly drowned at Gunnamatta!
Love the Peninsula!! Really holds its own, imoā¦if youāre visiting Melbourne you must check it out!
By the way, 2 people a year die of snake bites in Australia and the last death from a spider bite was in the 1950s.
Doesnāt seem worthy of the hype.
Itās the drop-bears that you really need to worry about.
What about the
crocodiles ![]()
scorpions ![]()
spiders ![]()
ya know what, I saw my share of redbacks, whitetails and huntsman spiders when I was there. and two snakes I couldnāt identify but scared the shit out of me when I stepped over them⦠but I didnāt once see a scorpion⦠saw some sharks while swimming out over the wreck at Byron Bay though.
Mornington⦠Can we go there in the afternoon or evening?
you can go there whenever you want!
regards the creepy crawliesā¦death is obviously the most drastic and ultimate statisticā¦and people often quote itā¦for instance i think its been generations since a redback claimed an adults lifeā¦but a bite can knock you about and fuck you upā¦
similarily a white tail, whose bite is not venomous/poisonous (i always get that mixed up) you can get a nip and keep on going without really noticingā¦but they are filthy creatures and very aggressive, and unlike redbacks, they can be found everywhereā¦Redbacks prefer dark and damp, so generally (not always) outdoorsā¦its the bacteria around the bite that if you are unlucky enough to get infected can fuck you right over⦠dont even google it if you are anywhere near having just eaten, or about to eat.
death is definately a way to gauge the seriousness of our creatures, but its not the only wayā¦
MORNINGtonā¦ok i think my frail attempt at puns here have failedā¦

Regarding snakes and spiders in Australiaā¦while there were more snake deaths but I am more terrified of spiders because I saw a video on Sydney Funnel Web and that little guy can kill in hours it seems and its so small and can be found throughout not just in the wild that is terrifying to meā¦because at least snakes have a certain size that might be more easily visibleā¦
