Regarding the Acosta news, his demotion came the week he went viral for refusing to let a GOP member of congress get away with not acknowledging the violence of the Jan 6th protestors who were being pardoned. It seems like a clear “we dont do that here” response from CNN, but Acosta’s history is relevant. He made his name during the first term as probably the most performatively confrontational member of the “resistance” arm of corporate media where it was only the most partisan libs who thought what he was doing had any value.

Turns out that the Province of Ontario’s LCBO is the single largest purchaser of Kentucky bourbon in the world. Premier Ford has stated that if Ontario is subject to tariffs, the LCBO will stop selling them and remove them from shelves - so orders are now on hold.
“We hope [Canada] will consider not responding in kind,” said Chris Swonger, president and CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
It won’t be responding in kind - Kentucky will explicitly be a target.

Was in the gym this morning and saw CNN was on one of the TVs. Thought their framing, at least in terms of headlines, highlighted some of the issues the media has in dealing with Trump (perhaps intentionally). The attempt to be “neutral” ends up protecting Trump’s intentions or the impact of some of his decisions.
Maybe the talking heads were making a stronger point but who really gives a shit what they say? Most people see a headline and carry on with their lives.

Their talking heads are just an alternative version of Dr Phil’s shows. Unwatchable. Probably positive if the country just sees the headlines and turns off the actual shows. However I fear people see the headlines and turn to the pretzeled logic of talking heads to find support for their chosen tribalism (on both sides).
