I like being lectured to. I love to learn. But no one learns anything from the listing of extremely well known grievances, real and imagined (it’s a mix) he thinks is “news” above. It’s propaganda without nuances. Spammable nonsense and commentary about unimportant nonsense.
Today, there was a fucking big event, but he has lasered the thread in on fucking immigration, because that bufoon Vance, spent his talking time, babbling about Culture War nonsense (among them imaginary nonsense about lack of freedom of religion in the UK for fuck’s sake!) and ignoring the actual ultra important crisis at hand; and it’s clear Toro thinks that was totally awesome. It is literally irrelevant in the Big Scheme of things, particularly at the Munich Security Conferance.
I never post Culture War related news, but I want to here, just to show case who really cares about that. To the degree where they ban a news agency (even AP !) for failing to use their new made up on the spot, name, for the Gulf of Mexico.
Free Speech blah blah . It is telling that Toro did not mention this, since this is not fringe and matters a lot more than his extreme fringe bullshit he posted above about fertility research in US academia, the happiness of liberal US women (what the fuck is the relevance anyway, only a hardcore culture warrior would take that to a US politics thread instead of a sociology thread where it belongs). This is probably more important than opinions about the fertility research of some academic being good or bad for society, yes ? This actually deals with real, not imagined, problems with Free Speech, yes? Toro does not think so, he prefers his Culture War and his trench.
The reason why I post it is for you and others to understand why people voted for someone like Trump. You might not like it. You might get mad. You might not like me. But this is why.
You’re big on Ukraine. So am I. My wife’s family is from there. And I 100% think Trump is making a big mistake.
It’s this culture war nonsense coming from the progressive left that is the cause of this. So be mad at them. Because they cost you.
Why do you think people are unaware of the arguments that have been used to justify a Trump vote. People posting here are very familiar with those arguments. You seem to mistake rejection of the reality underlying those arguments with unfamiliarity with them.
Yes people think the border was a mess and was so because the Dems chose to let them all in because they support open borders. But people who think that have no idea what they are talking about. People who think that despite actively engaging in a politics discussion where the correction has been made multiple times are somthing other than just poorly informed.
By the look of that it could be said that the Biden admin put all the hard work into getting crossings under control since they took over in 2021 and where well on their way to bringing those numbers right down only for trump to now take credit for it.
I stand to be corrected, but a quick check makes it seem like the figure is badly misrepresenting the data.
It seems to conflate encounters (what asylum seekers do) with illegal crossings (only a small subset of encounters).
It is also seemingly taking advantage of how drastically encounters fell over 2024. That means that a daily rate at the end of Dec 2024 is going to be far more representative of the Jan/Feb 2025 numbers than the average daily rate across the entire year. A big part of why that number fell was the work the Biden administration put into finding ways to better process asylum claims, things they are legally required to process, in ways that did not strain the CBP at the border thus reducing the number of encounters.
Yes. It’s a messaging bill. One that is not intended to pass but only to allow them to make a point, which in this case was mocking the absurdity of the various Republican pro life positions that regulate women’s bodies. It says so in the tweet.
I wonder why they were crossing the border illegally when the border was open under Biden.
It’s kind of weird to trek through the desert when you can just walk in.
