This is so dangerous that it’s almost unspeakable.
The direction this is taking is not surprising, but the speed is. That no one in the US is making large waves against this, is absolutely bat shit crazy.
(The US has spent less than 98 bil dollar on Ukraine military aid and civilian combined btw, most of it old material to replenish own stocks with new; but facts don’t matter)

I think it is probably too late for that. It is not at all clear that the courts are going to be in any position now to restrain the collapse of the rule of law. Federal politics are a dead-end for at least two years, and there are no assurances that the next election will be remotely close to free and fair. Voter suppression will be turbo-charged.
Classically, the next step in this kind of process is a military figure seizing power to ‘save the country’.
