Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

I know, Trump picked them wisely. :pensive:

Edit

I read somewhere that Project 2025 has planned 180 days until the complete takeover of power.

It will probably get even worse on the way to Fascism 2.0 USA Edition.

Trump has a mandate though. That is impossible to argue against with logic. This was the most important election in the history of the United States and he even got the popular vote, which he wasn’t supposed to get. If there was any election where there should have been a record turn out to vote against Trump, it was this one. It did not materialise. US voters were not scared enough of Trump, to the amazement and horror of the rest of the world.
You can argue that it’s not a land slide, but those 36.33% non-voters mean nothing in this context. They didn’t care enough to vote in the most important election in their life time, despite being told again and again that it was absolutely critical that they voted.

Trump won and he won clearly enough. He represents the United States just as Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, represents the Russian Federation.

Caritas; the divine Third Person.

It is an interesting word, I guess.

Caritas is a pretty girl, though she doesn’t have the shame to surrender her compact little body, stuffed full with chicken tikka, to the poor souls she arouses. You can see the stains on her white tights but only under blacklight.

She’s a great girl. She’ll make herself worshipped by the worst, on days of charity, feasting days, anniversaries of disasters, etc., to fatten sharks and ship-wreckers.

JD Vance and the wealthy so-called ā€œChristiansā€ ejaculate into a pocket-pussy homemade from a Pringles can and a mould of the anal passage of misery.

I was about to say that it was beautiful and that I loved it. Then I read the last paragraph and instantly reconsidered. Perhaps beautiful is not the correct word. But I liked your word play even so !
Not that I really understood it, mind you. Perhaps that’s why I apprecited it. It was…strange.
and right now strange that is not Trump is cool.

I’ll be honest, I have no idea what you are trying to say, having read it thrice now. But that’s cool too, I suppose
At least I can sense that it is deregatory against Vance and Trump in a vulgar way (and I can dig that right now.

The election was decided by an astonishingly un and ill informed electorate. They didn’t know what was happening before the election and their brains are no more turned on since. They are not rising up in response to what is happening because they don’t know about it and wouldn’t understand enough about the way the country/government/world is supposed to work to identify how awful this is even if they encountered any of this info

That really is the bottom line

He is having a grand time. So easy. These guys used to be so sad and angry due to how awful the war was progressing. Now they are cackling and smug.

This is a nuanced critique of the far left progressive activists. I like Mayor Pete.

Sorry, but no. I’m not having this.

The 37.39% knew the consequences of their actions (and inactions). It might suck to know that these people walk around you, but they very much do. Not a landslide, sure, but in the sense of the elections, he won the popular vote this time, so it is a mandate.

And yes, it sucks that you get grouped with them. But it’s also important for you to recognise that if there is any form of a democratic future for the United States, it’s about mobilising those 37.39% and changing their minds.

The Democrats got ridiculed for talking about Project 2025, for talking about coups, for talking about fascism, but yet it’s not even one month in and here we are.

My expectation for the part of the American people who have kept their sanity is to stand up and be counted. To follow their own example from the 60s and 70s with the civil rights movement and the Vietnam war. To make Trump and his cast realise that they will not be allowed to fulfil their plans.

But there isn’t even the slightest hint of unrest. To the outside world it does look exactly like what Magnus said: that the American people have capitulated and accepted their fate.

Nothing so far has had a direct effect on people’s everyday lives. The sacking of civil servants and gutting of departments is just more DC bullshit until the services you depend on are impacted. Ukraine is far away and of little interest to the average voter. It’ll take something closer to home to provoke protest.

There are some isolated protests here and there, but you only find media reports about it if you specifically search for them. We can only hope that it will continue to be possible to hear these voices and that they will not be restricted or even silenced.

As already said here, there is simply too little resistance visible and I hope that changes
