Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

History can, and should, always be contested and are many histories. An Annales School analysis isn’t invalidated by a post modern take.

It’s one of the big flaws of our neoliberal societies that the teaching of history has been put very much on the sidelines, in favour of so-called more ‘useful’ stuff.

Being deprived of the knowledge of what happened in the past is a recipe for disaster.

The Democrats would have more credibility on such issues if the far left hadn’t spent that last decade redefining words to fit their extremist intolerant “tolerance” gender ideology agenda.

While the Idiocracy in the White House is almost certainly committing a constitutional crisis and the most brazen corruption since Teapot Dome, the Democrats are busy with land acknowledgement statements, telling us that sex is “assigned at birth,” and pigeonholing everyone into predefined racial categories that don’t exist IRL ie AAPI. Democrats need to stop talking about this shit because nobody cares about it other than a very narrow slice of the electorate. When Democrats talk about bread and butter issues, they usually win. When they talk about culture war issues that divide Americans, they usually lose.

My impression is that most foreigners - including almost everyone in this thread → @fobs - have very little real understanding of how American culture and politics works. You think you do because America is so dominant and you watch its news, politics, shows and movies. But you really don’t have much of a clue.

That’s because you and almost everyone else in this thread views your interpretation of American society through your own national lens. And you usually get it wrong.

Some of the stuff I post here I don’t agree with but I’m trying to show everyone here how Americans view things because I think most posters in this thread don’t get it.

And what a bunch f****** pussies people are if they think I should be banned or ignored for what I’ve posted in this thread. This is nothing compared to American political forums including on one where some think I’m a leftist, which I am not. My impression having been to the city multiple times is that Liverpudlians are tough hardy people who have come through rough times. You’d never know it reading the reaction to the stuff I post that is outside of posters’ safe space. So grow a pair.

Oh and BTW, this offends the sensibilities of most Americans. So maybe some of you should start cleaning up the mess you’ve created at home with your Orwellian thought police rather than whining about America. WTF is a “non-hate crime incident” anyways?

What the hell does that mean?

If putting legislation in place that ensures everyone is treated fairly I’m fine with that.

The only people and outlets I hear / see going on about this are right wing.

Rants and then quotes the ultimate ranty right wing rag.

Honestly, I’m really struggling to get what the hell you are going on about half the time…

They said the same about Romulas as he fiddled himself as the Roman Empire crumbled around him.

Nero.

Romulus was the founder of Rome according to the myth.

Are you American? If not, I’m not surprised.

Me neither. But there’s a backlash going on against trans people because of the extreme maximalist absolutist of the far left to shove this crap down peoples’ throats. Terms like “chest-feeders” and “birthing persons” are offensive to many people because it erases women. Most Americans don’t really care if you’re an adult who has had a sex change. But people really do care that people born as men are competing in women’s sports, or telling women that they have to see penises in their change rooms. And it’s unfortunate because people who are genuinely transgender are being hurt by it. But the far left is telling everyone that there are a gazillion genders, and people get tired of that. And if you dare disagree, you’re a bigot! So surprise surprise, the most unqualified person in American history was re-elected President. But hey, it’s everyone else’s fault except the Left. Everyone else is a bigot.

One other thing. Just to show everyone here how disconnected the far left progressives are from society.

There was a movement in America by the progressive elites that started in academia to use the term “Latinx.” It was meant to be a gender neutral way of describing Hispanics. Something like 2% of Latinos identified as “Latinx” and something like 95% of Latinos had no idea what it meant. But this repeated in the media by progressives for years.

This is an example of progressives dividing people and redefining language to fit a narrow ideological agenda virtually no one agrees with outside of their strident echo chamber.

When I say the extreme far left, this is what I’m talking about. It’s reductivist ideology that defines everyone in groups instead of as individuals. And the American culture warrior far left is as far left as anyone on the planet.

Democrats talking about minimum wage → winning
Democrats talking about culture wars → losing

Sorry that’s BS. Its right wing culture wars. You quoting the Mail is evidence of this. Left wing rags are too busy writing about right wing corruption.

Recognising the variability in people is not a problem until the RW keep banging on about it. It’s a very well executed deflection.

Good because I’m not, but surprise surprise the same RW bull crap is being pushed here as well.

You’re right no one cares, but the RW keep force feeding it to everyone. That orange fuckwit even twisted an aircraft disaster into a gender, sexuality issue which it never never was or will be. It is fucking low, and i’m being polite.

Who are the “extreme left”?

I’m so tired of this conversation already. It’s just endless repetitions of exactly what you’re saying about the force feeding, but the person spewing it has no sense of self-awareness nor irony.

Can we just move on from this?

No worries. I’d like to know who the extreme left are first though.

Yes non-Americans telling Americans why they are wrong about American politics. :+1:

It’s funny that foreigners tell the American working class that left is for them when nearly two-thirds of the American working class does not vote for the left-wing American political party.

The lack of irony and self-awareness by the foreign left should be surprising but it’s not.

Insulting people and hate speech - free speech, baby

Academics pushing a word that hurts my feelings - sorry, I just have to vote for an authoritarian nutcase and his elitist billionaire friends
