The people who predicted much of what is happened did so despite Trump’s claims to contrary, by reading between the lines of what he’d previously done, who he had around him and what he refused to rule out.

My dad’s best friend died of pancreatic cancer. He was dead in less than 6 months of his diagnosis and told from day 1 there was absolutely nothing that could be done. A treatment like this is genuinely revolutionary. I think a lot of these chodes causing this havoc really don’t understand how geographically dispersed across the entire country the Federal workforce is. I genuinely believe many of these people conflate the Federal government with DC and so are LOLing at fucking over a liberal city they dislike not realizing they are actually spreading the hurt of this into every town in America.
What they are doing is creating nationwide anger at their actions and all for what in the end are trivial impacts to government spending. There may be some grandplan that is still too hidden to see, but I genuinely think a big part of this move comes from a basic miscalculation on how extensively the pain of this is going to be felt.
