It is mostly the honour system when it comes to cash. There is no record of it anywhere so the employee is supposed to voluntarily report it to the IRS when they submit their taxes. Theoretically the IRS can ping you if they think you are underreporting based on where you work, but I dont know anyone that has happened to and everyone I know massively under reports.
But most tips are done by card now and so that puts it back on the employer. They will pay the employer a menial salary that basically only exists so taxes on the CC tips can be taken out of it.
Something like 1% of the total population of deeply Conservative North Dakota work for the federal government. Everyone there will know someone who has been laid off for no good reason.

People have the wrong image of government employees. Most of them do essential things that almost everyone is in agreement with. The DOGE agenda is going to spark a backlash.

I fully expect one outcome of this to be a much sharper focus on taxing billionaires, and hopefully the discontent that is starting to foment will lead to Trump and the rotten Republicans being ejected from power at the next opportunity.

That is really remarkable, because pancreatic is one of the most aggressive and lethal of all cancers. I read an article on BioNTech a few months ago and it also mentioned their work at Clatterbridge Hospital over on the Wirral which is tackling lung cancer. That trial is ongoing - I think they picked Merseyside because it has a higher incidence for that type of cancer.
These are what the mRNA vaccines were originally intended for. The Covid thing was a side-track but the profits from it are funding this kind of research.
