And then let in that malicious crackpot Vance??
France and the UK is responsible for this in my view, after the failed meeting in London.
The abject weakness and tepidness shown in London and the groveling to get Zelnisky to apologice to the mad emperor, is weak and stinks of projected fear and panic, and fascists do not respect weakness, but only strenght.
The Kremlin shark is smelling European blood, it is smelling weak and scared small and tepid fish. And Trump is not on our side.
Starmer is a coward. He does not know how to stand up to bullies, it seems.
It’s panic. Understandable panic. The UK has left the EU, it clings to its special relationship because without it, Bad Times.
But they have had time and they are misreading both Washington and particularly Moscow. They laugh and are having a grand time, mocking what they see as cowardice and tepidness. Understandable as well.
Europe doesn’t really have time to accomondate a long period of panic and inability to act, for certain states to get past onto the next stage of grief.
My only hope now is Merz, who is saying intelligent things, unlike France (with it’s lame truce idea that is an obvious trap to Russia, but too obvious for them to fall for in any case) and the UK in particular. I understand why they are doing this. They are going to try to spend weeks to mend ties with Washington, but in so doing, they are likely to waste a lot of valuable time, because they are likely to fail and it directly damages deterrance visa vi Moscow.
This is, in my view, the correct reading of the geopolitical situation:

I sold a Dow Jones index fund this morning, and put the funds into a European defence and aerospace index fund on precisely this logic.
This is what I meant when i said that incoming chancelor Merz was saying more “intelligent things”. Germany has been tied to the US completely, but yet he dared say the obvious and necessary (it’s necessary because someone in power needs to say it, not just commentators):

And he said it twice even:
“It was not a spontaneous reaction, but obviously a manufactured escalation in this meeting in the Oval Office,”
Waltz: The Trump administration envisions a peace deal that includes Ukrainian concessions on territory and Russian concessions on security guarantees under European leadership.
And of course:
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov this morning: “The new U.S. Administration is rapidly changing all foreign policy configurations. This largely coincides with our vision.”

German officials told a Berlin-based news outlet, “Our colleagues at the Consulate General in Los Angeles are in constant contact with U.S. authorities and family members regarding the case and are trying to find a solution.”
Apparently, she was carrying her tattooing equipment and they took it as her meaning to work in the US which is not allowed on a tourist visa.
Ah, ok. Makes sense.

It’s not panic. It’s just who he is. Look at the UK’s domestic politics.
No criticism. Just a heads up, so you are aware of certain twitter channels.
Polymarket used to be the excellent AUweaponstracker, a fantastic research channel that counted destroyed hardware and weapons, but they sold it to Polymarket for a lot of money, so I found myself following polymarket (I quickly unfollowed the day after) . Polymarket has an agenda, just in case you didn’t know. Much like Visegrad. Polymark is Peter Thiels vechicle. I personally, have blocked Polymarket after seeing the clickbait they post.
But of course, feel free to ignore !
Good at Dutch directness. Saying stuff. Criticising others. I get that is a nice change from The Man Who Wasn’t There (Scholz), but that alone doesn’t make him an effective politcian. He needs to learn how to forge alliances both internally and foreign, otherwise he’ll ultimately fail imo.
You are of course right.
But my point is perhaps that what he said, is something that needs to be said for movement to take place. Inertia is not a position one can have for long.

It seems that every trick is being used to discredit Ukraine
