And you are underestimating how much support he has in Ukraine after the Washington visit. He can’t step down. His political rivals, such as Zalushny and Proroshenko is behind him. The Ukrainian nation did not react to the US demands by fracturing, but cementing. His political rivals have no attack vector now.
Let’s see. I hope you guys are right.
But as history shows, EU nations have folded to US more often than not.
On one hand, you would like to see a journalist take him to task on his vaccine misinformation, but the public health emergency far outrides that.
Post-WW2 history is a thing of the past I’m afraid. The Bush Jr. period showed already how strained the post-war model was. With Trump in charge, it has definitely crumbled. I don’t think that anyone knows for the time being what will come out of the present troubles.
This is a new era, a dangerous one for the whole world, and that includes first and foremost the US. But I don’t think that anybody holds the key so far to understand where the journey takes us to.
The era of breathtaking stupidity only surpassed by its arrogance.
Totally agree. FAFO is the most apt way to describe this US govt.
How many pieces covering this fall out report even in passing that Zelensky was at the center of the events that would lead to Trump being impeached for the first time, events that saw Trump withhold support over petty personal grievances?
I get reporters feel they cannot attribute motivation to what happened without direct sourcing on it, but it is irresponsible to not raise this history when covering this incident to the point of quite clearly misleading readers on the thing they are reporting on.
2-3 years ago, I would have posted this in the Joke section. But US politics is satire and this is much, much more serious:
After the election, a couple people here were floating the idea of a bloody revolution being a possibility. Thought it was far-fetched because I thought Americans would never get desperate enough, and usually it takes a dictator being in power for longer than 4 years to get to that point.
Still don’t think it’s likely… but at this rate, not so sure anymore. Literally nothing is off the table with this administration. Wouldn’t even surprise me if they nuked someone. There is no line that they’ll hesitate to cross (apart from being critical of Putin).
I hope one outcome is closer integration in Europe, along with a robust military deterrence quickly forming. It has a 500M population, is a huge trading bloc, and should not be getting pushed around by anyone.
This should be an opportunity for the UK to more closely align, too, and an ancillary benefit is that it will hopefully start to undo the Brexit mistake.
RFK already being attacked by anti-vaxxers as a ‘traitor Jew’.

I have to unfortunately grimly nod at what many of these Russian analysts are saying. They read this very, very well.
Nor do I.
It’s actually this bad:

No, ladies and gentlemen, I regret to inform you that this is real.
The United States is governed by malicious human beings with craniums filled with rotten cheese.
If only… it’s far more likely that he’s carried out of the WH in a box. Fully expect him to run again in 2028 and stay in power, no matter what happens in the elections.
In the next week or so?
