Funny how much better than reads when you substitute America for France

I noticed it as well, anyone knows the reason? Ridiculous

The comments are hilarious but not really helpful :joy:

The US: You need to all build up your own military so you can stand up for yourself without support from the US

Europe starts drawing up plans to do exactly that

Ash Wednesday - granted, a fairly large and performative cross.

The US have never been able to understand much in terms of foreign policy, but this is really like putting a blind and deaf elephant in a porcelaine store. :see_no_evil:

We know that these MAGA people are 100% fuckwits. The people behind them though are dangerous. And this group could possibly include Putin.

So the US is onto regime changes with friendly countries now.

Thanks, I have to Google it
I have no idea what that means, we don’t do that weird stuff here

Yeah, admittedly most British ā€œChristiansā€ are barely Christian but I’d never seen it before either until I moved to the US. Most Americans, regardless of denomination approach their Christianity like it is a completely differently religion than what I was brought up understanding it to be.

Not even in Bavaria? It is more associated with Catholic practice, but it is essentially shows the world you went to the Ash Wednesday service, so the fundies love it now. Rubio is Catholic afaik.

Who is Scott Ritter? Anyone of importance?

Most American Christians are not actually Christian, but practitioners of some weird prosperity cult that uses Christian symbology. Granted, the ā€˜no true Scotsman’ fallacy applies.

An American patriot, and convicted pedophile.

It is not common in most Protestant countries, at least not those who had Calvinistic influence.

In the Norwegian Church, Ash Wednesday is not even a day where there are sermons. We associate it with Chatolicism. It was an important part of the sacraments in the Middle Ages in Norway before the Reformation.

Sounds familiar to the big orange.

It is better to read the article, using the Russian language, while you say Heil Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, after every paragraph.

He used to be a famous internet tankie , working for Russian propaganda outlets, but now he is a powerful MAGA influencer.

Oh, and he is also convicted a few times for pedophilia.

Perhaps one of the most vulgar aspects of MAGA, is how they place people like Scott Ritter on a pedestal while preaching Christian values. See also Andrew Tate.

I am told that in most American Protestant practice, it is really a phenomenon of the last 40 years or so. The performative aspect of it is the appeal. I grew up seeing it in Catholic practice in Quebec.

Things like that always bother me so much, because I’m fairly certain it’s against a particular passage in the Bible about performative public demonstrations of faith.
