âinadvertentlyâ
This administration would âinadvertentlyâ sell out their own assets, never mind foreign.
Nah! Itâs those American crash courses on how to nĂ©gociate like Donald Trump. The American eagle didnât stand a chance after that.
During Trumpâs first term we experienced an unusually and alarmingly high rate of having our intelligence assets getting burned, or even âterminatedâ. Very few people with any standing in the intelligence community came right out and said that Trump had shared things he shouldnt have, but it was an open secret that most leaders felt his behavior meant it was likely that was what they were dealing with.
There were a couple of incidents that were public, notably some Israeli assets.

Which is funny to me. These people donât understand the basics. Zelensky would beat any rival in an election now. Perhaps he wouldnât have 6 weeks ago, but he has incredibly popularity now after the events in the White House.
His closest rival is Zalushniy and he openly states that the United States is allied to Russia today and he is much more blunt. Poroshenko and Tymoshenko stands no chance. It is absurd what the Americans are trying to do. Ukrainians see through it, they are paranoid about a foreign coup. They resist it.

This is fundamentally what they are doing. They are stripping assets and will place them in the hands of private firms owned by the likes of Musk.
We are witnessing an asset strip.
Yes, SS uses an American cartographer which they own, so they are useless now. Thumann is talking about entirely different products, which are not comparable in any shape or form to cruise missiles. His anger doesnât make this decison by the American less hurtful for Ukraine. But it means that Ukraine is less likely to care about US targeting restrictions with their own weapons.
Much worse, is that the US has also shut down all HIMARS, the primary artillery unit Ukraine uses to beat back Russian assaults. Highly problematically, Ukraine has many batteries of extremely expensive PATRIOTs with only 3-4 weeks left of missiles for them. It makes for instance a lot of the more expensive donations by Germany , useless.
Donations from various donor countries were supposed to compliment each other. So Germany, Netherlands etc. donates systems, US missiles for them etc.
The popular description of Trumpâs movement is it is an anti-establishment agenda. It just is not though. It just wants to introduce a different establishment. Elon Musk, David Saks, to a lesser degree Jeff BezosâŠthese are the people driving Trump and getting the spoils of it. Project 2025 is about solidifying establishment power, but again just ensuring it is the right people in that new establishment.
Anyone who ever talks about it as anything else should be reflexively ignored for the rest of their career.
That is true, but there are some big differences.
-
Most of the Bush admin was convinced that Saddam was actually hiding them.
-
Iraq was an enemy state, with a regime seen as loathsome to most of the world.
-
Saddam did not exactly cooperate a lot.
But yes, they fabricated what they needed and the Bush admin will always be remembered for that. But what they did, and the jingoistic ludicrous case Trump admin are building for Canada, for Denmark, for Mexico; for states that are not their enemies, simply weaker than them and bordering them, is very different.
At least in my mind, there is a massive difference in wanting to change the regime of an enemy state and inventing nonsense and bs so you can conquer friendly states. It is vastly different.
That chicken isnât the brightest light in the room, eh?
We need some salt here and remember this is a diplomat, I think.
He may be personally appaled, but I donât think China is (well they probably donât understand it). They see opportunity.
I donât think anyone is interpreting this as his personal feelings. China absolutely does see an opportunity. As long as Europe and the US were moving together, Russia was a very useful friend to support it. That is no longer the case. Europe is not the threat to China that the US is. They wonât cut Russia loose the way the US has cut Ukraine/Europe loose, but there is no loyalty to Russia.
I imagine some will want to view this as a defense of Bush, so Iâm going to prebut those complaints. The Bush team had a broken world view, they abused their power, and they were incompetent in implementing their plans. Yet for as awful as this was and how damaging it was to the USâ role in the world, what weâre seeing now is something in a different league from all that. It is not just different by degree but by type.
Oh FFS. Lutnick now saying the Canada and Mexico tariffs will be delayed until April. Sheinbaum just saying âfuck it, I will respond to these buffoons on the weekend if they are still saying the same thingâ is looking fairly smart.
At some point, some of these US companies should be filing claims for damages against their own government. The global evaporation of brand equity must be staggering.
Unfortunately, the people who voted for this would tell you âhow were we to know?â, just like the administration.
Except everyone else was telling them so, but their arrogance and small penises wouldnât let them admit that.
