It needs to be re-tweeted at Trump and all his thugs. They will cry.

“That eagle is obviously not an american bald eagle, its a transbird that identifies as a chicken, we’ve got to get this crazy notion out of nature, make bald eagles great again”

Probable trump reply.

It wouldnt surprise me if he was already aware of it. He seems to spend most of his time on X / Twitter or playing golf.

EDIT. Add changing his mind to thie list of things he does…

Not really. The price discrepancy against the ‘world price’ (really WTI) is a function of the composition and the fact that most of it has nowhere else to go. The pipeline did in part change that. Discounted yes, but not subsidized. But there is not a line item discount for oil in the free trade agreement as was suggested there.

Executive Order to dissolve the Department of Education apparently being issued today. It will also require Congressional approval, but the executive order will start the process. Supposedly notes ‘unaccountable bureaucrats’, which is always amusing language coming from the executive branch - most bureaucrats are ultimately accountable to the White House.

I thought this was a pretty good and quick discussion on the impact of trade wars on farmers.

These impacts from the first term and utter failure of the policies were pretty well reported on at the time, which is what makes the surprise of the farmers being subjected to it again, but worse, so enraging.

There are lots of people who voted for Trump who genuinely didnt think this whole thing is what they were voting for. You can point to a lack of civic responsibility in knowing WTF you are talking about before casting a vote, or the failure of news organizations as a collective to frame the stakes properly that led to that. But these fucking farmers lived it first time around. And cried about. Loudly. You dont need to understand how government works or keep up with the news to have felt the impact of it last time if you were a farmer. To have gone through the entire campaign and not pick up on that he was promising to double down on that failed policy is astonishing level of living with your head up your arse.

I am not big on the “they deserved it” attitude to Trump voters getting hurt by their own vote, but these fucking people 100% fucking deserve what is coming for them now.

I dont know what legal challenges can be made to protect it, outside of Trump’s administrative incompetence. But if it gets to the courts this is one this SC will be very happy to help him. In lots of ways it is easy to argue that the dissolution of the DoE is a natural extension of the Roberts’ court decision in Holder vs Shelby County that decided racism was over so things put in place to prevent racism are now unnecessary.

I hate the way “ghoul” has become part of our political language, but that is absolutely ghoulish and a level I am genuinely shocked they are stooping to.

I think you are probably correct on legal challenges, but the key step is likely the Congressional approval. A lot of red state House members are already hearing a great deal of blowback about changes that have already happened at Education.

Assuming elections still matter in 2026.
