I so wish the pro Ukrainian Norwegian politicians had the guts (well, to be frank, they cannot afford to have these kind of guts as a small non-nuclear power, but a bit more of this please) and more importantly, these rethorical skills. I find myseslf watching the Norwegian parliamentarian debate and the fuckwits are unable to explain in a convincing manner what is happening and why it is so incredibly important to pour money and material into Ukraine as well as our own armaments industry and grow our tiny land forces into something that can defend Finmark and Troms in actual practice, for longer than a week.

Apparently today’s calls between Trump-Trudeau and Lutnick-LeBlanc did not go quite as well as Trump suggested on social media. The Americans thought the one-month stay on auto industry tariffs was some kind of bargaining chip that could lead to a short-term deal to relax Canadian counter-tariffs (and provincial level boycotts). There was no quid pro quo whatsoever, the one-month stay is close to worthless.
Notable that @Livvy 's post of Danielle Smith is her now fighting for political survival. She is by far the most pro-Trump, Maga-Maple premier in Canada, from Alberta which probably has the most Trump sympathizers. She must know her own constituents will tear her down unless she takes a strong position - six weeks ago she was at Mar-a-Lago schmoozing with Trump.

Maybe it’s just me being damaged by reading and watching propaganda aimed to cement hostility and later sell a war, but to me it seems that they are at least bouncing off, or playing with such ideas, of invading Canada later down the line. Because this and everything else looks like, well a very inept, way of building a case for future enmity so you can later fabricate some bogus casus belli in a couple of years.
This is what Russia has done several times but it seems too insane to contemplate a US invasion of Canada in a year or two. But even so, if these attacks continue, if they keep this propaganda up; it points to something further down the road maybe ?
It just seems like they are escalating all the time, out of no where. Literally no one in the West has been hostile to them, but they keep inventing grievances left and right. And facts do not seem to matter, no matter how ridiculous their lies are, the base keep applauding.

I don’t think you are being nonsensical. Canada has not seen fit to develop nuclear weapons capacity in 75 years, and it has now entered serious policy discussions. Only Freeland has stated outright that the target of the deterrence is as much the US as Russia or China. I don’t think it is a 2025 event, but if this US folly does as much damage as I fear it might, something like 1929-30, who knows what might happen.
By contrast, I expect a serious border incident with Mexico is very likely in the next few months. There is enough real illegal activity to be a target, but at the same time some of the cartel operations are well-armed enough to put up serious resistance. You can see the escalation pathway fairly readily.

I agree, the military operation in Mexico is coming and very soon. That has been clear now for a while. But forgive me, but in my mind Canada is different compared to Mexico. At least in Mexico, while it would be a blatant breach of Interntational Law and insane, immoral and stupid; they can claim to target the cartels. But they have no, or should have no, security issues with Canada.
Even so, it seems they are busy fabricating grievances and building up jingoistic loathing. Both of which are needed for a casus belli. It’s grim. Multi-Polar World indeed. 3 Great Powers and their speres of influences.
