It is. That was my first comment on this thread even though i spend more time following this than most things lately. I don’t usually comment because it’s making me so angry that they voted this muppet in and now have no way of getting him out. He’s the biggest threat to WW3 we’ve ever had and i really see us being stuck with him till he causes it.

Non citizens have the same rights, but the difference is certain crimes can result in their status being revoked. Everyone who has gone through it understand how central terrorism is to that. Where the line between free speech and terrorism lies is a notoriously contentious one to define and if the government wants to take that argument that is their right. But that is done with due process. Through the immigration courts. With full disclosure of the case being made.
It is not done by ice who mistakenly collect someone whose status they have misunderstood and then have the state department conduct a trial by public

Between MAGA trumpeting the ‘foreigners have no rights line’, the new requirement for Canadians planning to stay more than 30 days to register, and the recent cases of tourists being held in custody for indefinite periods for fairly trivial violations (cleaning a host’s house in a nominal quid pro quo being the most recent), I expect a complete collapse of American tourism - my mother’s winter retirement village now has almost 1 in 3 units up for sale.
