The culture war stuff does not help you. I live here in America and I’m a naturalized citizen, having grown up in the UK and lived there until age 37. The only people here in America I have ever seen going on about this sort of stuff are extreme right wingers.
If you look hard enough of course you will always find silly examples that are indefensible to the wider public.
But try as it might, the extreme right is way wide of the mark in trying to make that stuff the main course in any serious discourse. It is a distraction, and you posting it reveals you are caught up in the distraction.
Open your eyes! Fascism is starting to take this country down. Trump is awful on any number of levels. Musk too. Going after silly culture war stuff rather misses the MASSIVE point of what is really wrong over here.
Many, many jobs are being lost. Government is being hollowed out. People are now way less free under an authoritarian ruler. Prices are higher. People are worse off. Inflation is higher, the stock market is getting battered.
The whole world now knows it cannot trust America. Trusted friends and allies are being treated as enemies. Longstanding enemies have become friends. We have betrayed Ukraine, shit on the Palestinians and torn up the mechanisms that have generally ensured peace and prosperity for 80+ years.
The supposed checks and balances in America have gone. Sycophants kiss Trump’s ass daily. He is a likely drug addict, who is illiterate. He is a serial-bankrupt, adulterous pervert, who has cheated and blagged his way through life after inheriting a fortune from his father.
He pardons violent, cop-killing insurrectionists, and goes after peaceful, legitimate protesters. He understands nothing about the world and is a stupid man. He shit himself recently when Keir Starmer almost had him read something in front of the cameras. He is a liar and a crook, grifting his way to hundreds of millions of dollars before our eyes.
This country has taken a serious turn in the wrong direction.
You are clearly an educated, traveled person, who likely works at a decent level with some responsibility. Same here. But the sort of culture war shit you are shoveling onto these boards massively undermines anything good that you might want to say. And that is a shame, as most people in here are left leaning, and a decent dialog with someone from another perspective might be useful.
But just when that almost happens, the troll in you rears its ugly head and you discredit yourself sir. You major on the very minor, and the sense of fair play that most people possess, whereby they would be willing to engage in a proper exchange of viewpoints, is therefore violated.

This is true. Trump’s fixer was Roy Cohen, who was the lawyer for the mob. When Trump was building Trump Tower on 5th, there was a cement strike by the mob controlled unions. But Cohen made sure Trump got his cement.
