Apparently. They’ve certainly been an attack line for the RW in the UK too.
Basically during transgender awareness week, a feminist group flew Meghan Murphy from Canada to give a talk of why transgender women are not women.
It was deliberately provocative, and I would argue got exactly the response they wanted.
Performance politics
Thinking has become exclusive to the left.
Thinking is woke.
That actually explains a lot!
These data are not a good way to demonstrate the argument being made because it treats the dependent variable (what is the defining difference in attitudes towards “progress” between the two groups) as the independent variable being measured. The issues the progressive battle lines are fought on change over time, from generation to generation. What you see here is not necessarily an illustration of growing extremism, but examples of things where the battles are now being fought where they werent in the past.

Another travel ban is coming according to the WSJ
I think this is true, but a big part of why it was so successful was because the Dems completely ceded ground over the argument meaning people only heard about it from Trump and team. The Dems not only didnt fight for their positions, but the one way nature of that discussion meant most people understood what in fact those positions were based only on what the GOP was saying (lying) the Dems were advocating for.
There is an idea in politics that if you are explaining you are losing, and in lots of cases the GOP argument is more intuitive and feels more right.
Make American great again
well, actually…
[crowd tunes out]
The result is there are lots of fights the Dems choose not to take, but it has produced very familiar tropes that do not reflect reality - see the GOP is better for the economy and national security/border. This was always a chicken shit approach that made them underperform, with them putting all their hope in people developing a better understanding of the issues on the national press covering the issues correctly. They’ve continued fighting that fight (with the press rather than the GOP) even while people have turned away from those places to get their information. The result is a complete void in the information space people inhabit today where Democratic arguments should be. Republicans have long put more time into talking than into doing their job. But the information space has evolved to a place where that is now actually what is required. Unless Dems make a huge effort to go out there and fight their corner every day, not just when the campaign season starts, and do so in every space they can get access to, people are going to continue only hearing the GOP framing of who the Dems are and what they prioritize and that is not a good place from which to win elections.
A good thread cutting through the bullshit justifications of what the admin is allowing ICE to do right now
Any chance you can use threadreaderapp on this?
You can’t comment and neither can anyone else as they aren’t living in NZ to know whether are not.
I mean, your anecdote was in reply to @aussielad talking about the left not being opposed to free speech, so I naturally read it as your association of universities (and presumably their administrations since the latter makes the decision) with being left-wing by definition.
It was a genuine question. But then again, even if we accept your fallacious standards on who can comment, @ISMF I’m pretty sure is living in NZ and explicitly rebutted your anecdote.
Also important to point out the obsession on the right about “radical gender ideology” coming from a place of sickos who just want to sexualize kids is really about accusations being confessions
