There is going to be a huge World Cup Tournament, with supporters of each country coming over to USA next year. This will be another huge embarrassing problem if ICE agents start detaining them as well.
It will also not look good on FIFA either.

Iran, Mexico and Canada have all qualified.
Canada, Mexico and the US qualified automatically as co-hosts.
I would love to see those games held in Canada and Mexico played in front of full stadiums, while those in the US are played out in front of empty terraces.

Right now, the US CBP is nowhere close to ready to process the number of entry visas required at the land crossings. Note that there are matches hosted in Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City, Monterrey and Zapopan for nine of the groups - fans following their teams will in some cases have to cross the border twice just in the group stage.

This is in an important thing to keep in mind. Remember in his first term the incident that lit the flame on the public reporting on his relationship with Russia was that before he was even inaugurated his national security advisor was caught having back channel communications with russians who were being surveilled. He was eventually fired but not for his conduct, but for supposedly lying to Pence about it. Even at that the absolute most caught red handed moment they couldnt acknowledge wrong doing so had to create a different pretext to justify pushing him out of the door.

I think it is Group B (likely others) that have Los Angeles and Vancouver as the main host cities - 2000 km apart. Like Madrid and Hamburg being hosts in the same group

Even the most trivial of security clearance processes would have dumped Hegseth out of consideration, there are so many red flags the only real question is whether he is already completely compromised, or so trivially easy to do so that no one has bothered yet.
