“Weekend at Bernie’s president” followed up by one that literally needs to be propped up.
I was held only for a few hours at JFK in 96, when a drug detection dog sniffed something in my rucksack (sounds weirder than I intended in English). Didn’t have anything in there, I’m not that stupid, but even that short experience was fairly unpleasant.
What’s the American equivalent for the CBeebies? I think it’s time Fox gets called the Thickolodeon or something like that.
I always wait until the end of April just to be sure the pesky unstable weather does not decide that it would be cool with 2-4 super late sub zero days in March or April
Yeah happened to me pretty frequently in the immediate post-9/11 years. Single traveler into a port of entry dominated by young families and having a vaguely Med/MENA complexion seemed to make me a good target for secondary inspections.
US CBP is notorious for how unpleasant a group of people it is staffed by that even routine encounters with them are horrible. Being detained by them even on a triviality, or even in my case where it felt like a numbers exercises (easier to pull me as a way to meet their quota than disrupt a young family) felt ominous. Being stuck in that room and understanding you have a non-zero chance of being renditioned is just something not worth fucking with.
The things they call a hoax are not a hoax
I got busted at Brisbane many years back when returning from a stint in the UK after one of the bloody beagles took a shine to me. The bastard thing would not leave me alone, leading to it’s handler joking that it had adopted me as it’s new best friend.
The irony, When packing my bag in London, the zipper broke meaning I had to go and buy and brand new backpack, so no way could it have any drug scent on it.
Yeah back then, before they released me, they just shrugged and said it happens quite frequently.
Maybe they do have a point in cutting support for them, clearly unqualified these furry freeloaders.
My first dog I owned as an adult was one who had failed out of a security school and ended up at a shelter. That made me hate CBP even more because in every other environment dogs who fail out of profession training get adopted as pets by people within the program. For them to send him to a shelter just because he liked greeting strangers is inexcusable.
The best bit is that picture of imaginary young Trump behind actual Trump.
I don’t know how the US can ever recover from the degree of institutional damage that’s being done.
I was going to ask, for what purpose?
Private contractors of course..
