I guess itâs time to revisit the stupidity of the discussions around Sean O Brien and the Teamsters Union from the campaign. What voters us tell us they think is important, but it not be taken on face value. The Teamsters flipping to Trump was a relevant story but only an idiot would (and did) take their explanations for it on face value. The story was not an economic one, but what has happened that makes a large group of people have such an indefensible view of what is in their economic interest.
I donât think itâs just the US. I used to refer to the scanner in UK airports as the âmelanin detectorâ.
Climate change is a hoax
This sort of bullshit from American entities is just infuriating. Go lobby your own damn government to stop instigating a trade war. Why in the hell should American pork exports be special?

Tariffs are probably not doing more than a fraction of what the consumer boycott is doing.

I am not sure if we have the full story yet, but weâre now seeing a bit of an explanation for why there were questions about whether people in the Houthi group chat were using their personal or government phone when it is commonly understood that you cannot download Signal onto a government phone designated as being used for classified information.
There was a story from December about how the Trump team rejected the government support during the transition to instead manage it privately. That was technically allowed, but controversial because of the assumption the only reason someone would do that was to avoid transparency built into the normal transition process. What that meant was these early inner circle people were given âgovernment devicesâ by the private transition team that were not from the government IT department and so didnt have the same administrative restrictions on them. Once Trump was inaugurated and these people started taking their official positions within the admin, they never switched over to legit government IT administered devices, which explains how they have Signal on their government device.
This yet again looks like a case of people running into problems because they didnt follow normal procedure without understanding why said procedure exists is in first place
âExperts puzzled. New bird species discovered in Greenlandâ
This is a tracking list of a lot of people who have been recently arrested and detained. Itâs shocking to say the least:
I think itâs more than that. An entitled bunch of arrogant stooges that couldnt manage a shopping list springs to mind.
Normal procedures are below them, itâs all government procedural bullshit.
I also think thereâs a dark side to these people we havent fully seen yet. Weâve scratched the surface regarding links to Russia, oligarchs, billionaires etc.
âTruly inspiring.â
Sure, that is what I am saying. Being too arrogant to try to learn why a policy is in place before you choose to ignore it is a surefire way to find yourself in trouble, like discussing war plans on a non secured phone.
This is a real world example of what philosophers call Chestertonâs Fence - if you find a fence on your property dont take it down before you understand why it was erected in the first place.

There is a special election happening in Mike Waltzâs district in Florida that covers the area from Daytona Beach to St Augustine and in land towards ocala. This is very republican. Its the sort of area you dont need to look at the data to know it. In some years I have been here it has not even fielded a Dem candidate in the race. Both Waltz and Trump won that district by 30 points in November which was unremarkable. This week though internal GOP polling has been reported to have shown the Dem candidate leading.
Apparently no special election has ever gone to an opposition party in a district the president won by that margin. So I dont think many people believe that poll in terms of predicting the result, but to be able to generate even an outlier poll that has completely eliminated that historically stable lead has them terrified. Even if this comes out as a 10 or 15 point win for the GOP candidate that will send shockwaves.
