there’s a reason why he’s called The Oracle

Inhumane, authoritarian and ugly. The land of personal liberty indeed.

Now, I am totally open to the Cosplay artist just pulling tough words, that are really meaningless and irrelevant, out of her mouth, but she is a real life minister/secretary and not juuuust a Cosplay-artist; so this could be possible actual policy to request El Salvador to keep them imprisoned for life.
I would ascribe this to normal (it has been normalised) MAGA performative cruelty for the MAGA masses. But again, she is an actual minister of the United States.

he doesn’t need to. Just needs a proxy who can play his hands at the table for himwhile he’s golfing at Mar-A-Lago.

Plausible Deniability.

I think the “Kids in Cages” scandal is maybe a relevent parallel. Back then while lots of people got wound up about the literal aspect of them using cages to house the detained kids, that was not actually the scandal. The scandal was that Trump was illegally separating kids from their families, deporting the adults, and doing it all without any good record keeping. It meant for most of the kids no one knew who they were or who they belonged to making it near impossible to reunite them with anything resumbling a family. It was part monstrous inhumanity and part outrageous incompetence.

I suspect the way they have gone about this El salvador thing, and their refusal to offer any concessions even when laughed out in court, is because between DHS and Bukele, they dont actually know who is where or how to bring them back.

So much of what I’ve seen about the American justice system is that yes, that is very much American and not un-American.

I’m wondering this evening when he pulls the same stunt again with the economy. I mean its worked twice already. It wouldn’t suprise me if they tried again.

From the Spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs

I would just like to state a very pointed “go fuck yourself” to any person who insisted this was because “you don’t get to keep your green card if you’ve committed a crime”, ignoring that the administration was not actually arguing that he committed crimes. Now we have the memo that makes clear that the administration are doing this without any intention of arguing that what he did was criminal

RFK in today’s cabinet meeting talking about why they are considering removing flouride from the drinking water

“I’m working with Lee Zeldin to reassess the fluoride rules based upon the August release by the National Toxicity Program of new science that shows a direct inverse correlation between exposing to fluoride and IQ loss, particularly in children.”

Ignoring that the study in question does not support removing flouride, he’s totally mangled up his message. An inverse relationship between flouride exposure and IQ loss, if real, would justify keeping flouride in the water.

Morons morons as far as the eyes could see

Having dealt with US social security for an American in-law, the HUGE potential for error cannot be overstated. Making any change has enormous consequences and complications, and it took 4 years to fix an error.

I google translated this article to English because I found it amusing. It’s only google translate though, so not the language will not be as if it was properly translated by an actual person.

Marie Simonsen has always been sharp, both in mind and tone and she writes well, I think. She is also probably the only one in that shit paper I still respect (the paper Dagbladet is an abominable tabloid, but it used to be a good national paper in the 90s, before it became totally click bait). Simonsen is good though. No longer as sharp in tone as when she was young, but that’s probably a good thing tbh.
