Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Galloway has lived all his life in LA, Berkeley, and NYC and has the money to take advantage of the benefits of such exciting vibrant places. That is an entirely different world than what the more typical American experience is

Who would have thought when everyone was complaining about world cups in Russia and Qatar that the next one in the us would be even more problematic and dangerous for traveling fans

At this point, I just want to see their tourism crash and burn down, which is quite likely to happen, so that decent people can emerge again, be listened to, and take the reins of the country.
The maga fools need to wake up from their ill dreams, and from that point, a complete reboot in their heads. From scratch.

Tourism? I want their whole economy to crash and burn.

As I have posted before, something major like that is the only way to ensure such imbeciles never get elected again, anywhere in the world.

Yeah, could have said the same, but while it’s an absolutely realistic perspective to see their tourism crash down in the next few years, we’ll see about the rest. They are still the economic powerhouse in the world.

And all of this is unecessary if they only had been sane. The econmic grievances behind MAGA is about wealth distribution and derelict infrastructure and fetanyl-ridden ghost towns in the mid-west and south. But they lack so much knowledge that they flock to a billionaire that channels their grievances outwards.
It is perverse. But yes, their economy is too big and therefore we all suffer from this.

Sadly that will take the majority of the world with them. You have a pension in the UK? Say good buy to it as majority of UK pensions are tied up in FTSE500, NASDAQ or Dow Jones, which all have strong links so if the US economy crashed most of the worlds stock markets will tank also.

Good.

The entire global system needs to change.

People have short memories. A world war or two should have been enough to convince people not to follow monarchs/sociopathic leaders, yet here we are. At best, if it gets bad enough… they’ll be out of power for a generation before people forget again.

So your happy losing any pension you have as well any other investments (excluding property ect)?

Yep.

Some things are far more important than individual wealth.

I have a dream ! ;

Democrats take the House next year. Trump is impeached again (take your pick what for). Senate Republicans finally decide they can no longer stand idly by while Rome burns. The President is removed from office.

What odds could I get on that ?

That Republicans have spines? More impossible than unlikely.

Be fair - America actually has an amazing selection of microbreweries that make fantastic beer.

Of course the whole faux Christian fascist hate thing dominating the landscape thing kind of out weighs the better than expected drinking opportunities.

People ask me how America has changed since I’ve lived here - you can get good beer almost everywhere now. But of course there is also the christofascism. So it’s swings and roundabouts

Bad times create strong beer.
