Its something I’m considering, which would be heartbreaking as we have a nice life here outside of the politics. Good job, good benefits, coaching soccer again, kids are happy, wife is happy near her family etc. I’m also locked in for at least three more years military service so by the time that ends we should be looking at the end of Trump.
If he kicks non-US born citizens out of the military then I’d probably say we have to leave the country. It would also collapse the military but I don’t think he gives a shit about any of that.
Other interesting stats in the article, which all point to the fact that Trump’s first 100 days have been an unmitigated disaster on all measurable records.
I feel sorrow and pity for you mate, same as anyone else in that situation. Same as you i would like to think i’d do the right thing but i know deep down my family would come first. Of course you should never have to choose between doing the right thing and your family, any government that forces you to make that choice shouldn’t be in charge. This one seems to be counting on fear to get it’s own way and will continue doing so.
I keep checking the DOW hoping against hope that even though it’ll cause global problems that it crashes. This seems to be the only way the Maga cult will go against him and that really needs to happen to see him off his throne. I’d rather see global struggles money wise than what he’s doing. He’s already using military to patrol the Mexican border (how long before they’re allowed to shoot people trying to cross?) and I am fed up of his threats to Greenland, Canada and Ukraine. This is without him trying to split Ukraine between him and Putin. I’m in the UK but feel empathy for every person in the US that isn’t in his cult. Recessions are terrible things but still better than the all out war that is coming without doubt if he stays the entire 4 years (although it feels like he’s trying to get it done in 4 months). I’d like to say stay strong but have to admit this may be 1 time where just leaving may be safer.
Not just their eye. They are desperate to make examples of people standing up in cases like this so they can get their point across. As we have seen, and I was screaming from back in the summer, “legal status” here is an irrelevant distinction to these people. Legal is whatever they say it is and we have now seen numerous examples of that, even if only due to incompetence and callous disregard than a conscious decision. The Feds are already bringing obstruction cases against people who have tried to intervene where plain clothed agents claiming to be from ICE but showing no documentation attempted to take people into custody. They will have no compunction doing that to you, and the piece of paper you have saying you have become an American will be irrelevant to them after that.
Keep in mind they have loudly proclaimed a goal of 1m deportations this year. So far they are WAY behind that schedule despite how brazenly illegal they have been in their approach. As they start facing more pressure to get back towards their projections, things are going to worse.
Uh, that is textbook inflation. I thought we didnt like that and viewed its existence as enough to shit on every other element of an otherwise strong economy?
