Itās all motivated reasoning - the Art of the Deal. These people are so bought into the idea that he is savvy negotiator that by definition he cannot be doing something dumb. Not only does it not need to make sense to us, the more it doesnt make sense the deeper the cunning, the more dangerous the trap he is setting for someone. There is no way for him to lose according to these people
I wrote to Jared Golden, Democrat House Representative in Maine, about my concerns and worries about Trump a few months ago. Anyway instead of responding I just got added to a mailing list for his newsletter. Golden works in maine District 2, which is āpurpleā at best and leans Republican but even given that context I think heās just jumped the shark now and may as well be a Republican.
He agrees with EVERYTHING Trump says and does, votes with Republican bills and opposes Democrats at every turn. In this weeks letter he described Democrats and āthe Leftā as āthe other sideā.
I think Iād rather just have actual Republicans in office than these fake-ass liars claiming to be Democrats and enacting Republican policies because they think itāll poll higher in their district.
The fawning coverage he and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez got from leftist media after the election, as savvy Dems able to connect with Trump voters made me sick. Neither of them have much else to offer other than punching left. I get that a winning Dem coalition is always likely to need these people, but lets stop pretending they have some secret special sauce to winning elections that comes from preternatural ability to avoid getting sucked into the online discourse. It is the most basic well trodden playbook there is.
