Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Fair enough. People in the MAGA sphere generally do not have a version of Christianity I recognize, or can tally with the New Testament.

Absolutely. Their religion, whatever it is, has nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus.
If he came back, they’d probably stick him on a flight to El Salvador.

They’re apparently trying to be funny with that Trump Pope stuff?
Kind of a problem if the stuff they’re actually ‘seriously’ saying and doing is mostly beyond parody.

Aside from anything else, it’s in rather poor taste from supposed statesmen.

I’ve just put that G20 film on Prime. The US president is a black woman. Oops, they called that one wrong, although she is a far more believable as president than Trump.

What’s ironic is that their twisted version of Christianity has a lot in common with Iran’s theocracy. They are just too stupid to see it.

Donald Trump’s first 100 days have been characterized by the most flagrant corruption imaginable. Today, I want to talk about 10 of the absolute worst examples.

#10 - The Tesla Ad

During a Tesla stock crash and days after Elon Musk infused $100m into Trump’s political operation, the two stood on the South Lawn of the White House, posing for the cameras while the President purchased a Tesla. Pay to play and product placement on the White House lawn.

#9 - Gutting the Watchdogs

Trump has acted to dismantle or manipulate regulatory agencies, like the NLRB and CFPB, that are, in many cases, investigating companies owned by Musk and Trump’s other billionaire buddies. With no watchdogs, corruption becomes policy.

#8 - Quid Pro Quo

…Again Indicted NYC Mayor Eric Adams got his charges dropped in what appeared to be a quid pro quo for pledging to do Trump’s dirty work on unrelated immigration policy. Numerous DOJ officials resigned in protest, and justice was never served.

#7 - Anti-Bribery Laws Out The Window

Trump ordered the DOJ to pause enforcement of anti-bribery laws, making it easier for U.S. companies to bribe foreign officials. Not just turning a blind eye to corruption. Tacitly authorizing it.

#6 - Musk’s Insider Info

Elon Musk and his DOGE bros gained access to enforcement data at OSHA, and the private information of millions of Americans held by the IRS and other agencies. He now holds the data to power his AI, or to weaponize against his competitors. Under Trump, access to your data is a perk of friendship.

#5 - Billionaire Favoritism

Trump’s FAA threatened to cancel a long-standing contract with Verizon in hopes of replacing it with a contract with Elon Musk-owned Starlink. No open bidding. No oversight. Just blatant favoritism for a billionaire donor and buddy.

#4 - Spending Tax Dollars at His Own Properties

So far, Trump has made 63 visits to his own properties costing taxpayers millions of dollars that go directly into his pocket. At least half of those were golf visits, including while he sent the stock market tumbling. I guess that’s par for the course.

#3 - Picking Apart the Law Firms

Trump publicly threatened law firms which employed lawyers or represented clients he didn’t like, chilled legal opposition to his policies, and extorted hundreds of millions in free legal work for his pet causes. A literal racket.

#2 - The DOJ as Personal Attorneys

He hired his top criminal lawyers to lead the department. The result? Cases against Trump allies dropped. Investigations into critics launched. The DOJ under Trump hasn’t just been politicized — it has been weaponized to reward loyalty and punish dissent.

#1 - The Memecoin

Effectively posting his Venmo for the entire world to buy favor, Trump’s memecoin is the most egregious, and most lucrative example of political corruption in modern history. In fees alone, Trump has seen hundreds of millions of dollars flow into his personal bank account and that of his kids, including money from foreign interests looking to buy influence.

This Trump Corruption List is nowhere near comprehensive. That’s exactly the problem. I’m going to continue doing everything I can, every single day to rein in this corrupt president. And dangerous Administration. I know you will, too.

BREAKING: 60 Minutes displays true journalistic bravery by preparing to air a segment covering Donald Trump’s corrupt targeting of law firms and political enemies — despite his ongoing lawsuit against their parent companies.

If Trump thought that he’d terrified them into silence, he was dead wrong…

“On the campaign trail, President Trump vowed to wield the power of the presidency to go after his perceived enemies. Now in the White House, Trump is using executive orders to target some of the biggest law firms in the country that he accuses of ‘weaponizing’ the justice system against him,” the episode description reads.

Correspondent Scott Pelley will report the segment. As of last month, Trump had extracted nearly $1 billion in pro bono work from top law firms by exploiting the power of his office.

Trump has also launched a massive lawsuit against CBS News, which airs 60 Minutes, and its parent company Paramount Global over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. Trump claims that the segment was deceptively edited and amounted to “election interference.”

Much to MAGA world’s chagrin, that interview has since been nominated for a prestigious Emmy award in the category of “Outstanding Edited Interview.”

Most experts agree that Trump’s allegations are spurious and plainly designed to extract money and a free PR win from the companies. Trump has the full power of the Oval Office behind him and reports indicate that Paramount Global may simply settle with him out of court rather than take on the presidency.

The corruption is right out in the open on this story, because Shari Redstone — the controlling shareholder of Paramount — is in the midst of trying to sell the company to Hollywood studio Skydance. To do that, she’ll need permission from Trump’s Federal Communications Commission.

Commentators like Matthew Belloni of Puck News have observed that Trump could be directing the FCC to withhold that permission so that he can use it as leverage in the settlement negotiations with Paramount.

In other words, if Trump gets what he wants, Redstone will get what she wants. Caught in the middle of it all is our right to a free press and the First Amendment itself.

There’s so much money to be had scamming these people. They eat up all the “branding” like the zombies they are.

Not a novel thought I know, considering how many grifters already pander to them despite their past political beliefs being at odds with everything they’re doing now.

“Brutally criticized Trump”, lol.

That Krassenstein influencer guy is always so dramatic.

Arminius used the term a few days ago to describe their form of Christianity as “prosperity gospel”. For people on the outside of that the most striking element of it is how an obvious and large a financial grift it is. These followings are just suckers being suckered. Given this is the core of the MAGA movement it is not surprising at all that he is able to scam them so brazenly.

US CBP is claiming the authority to stop and search without warrant in the ‘border zone’ defined on this map.

But sure, tell us all how we lack freedom. There are whole states where de facto people do not have civil rights.
