It is a perverse ‘half-full/half-empty’ phenomenon. In most incoming administrations, this is a disaster, and it really is a disaster. But it is also a welcome signal of sorts, some elements (presumably GOP Senators) must have put up enough of a wall of resistance to compel this. A week ago we were no longer sure there was any such wall possible.

That’s actually quite revealing in a way. The prevailing Republican mindset seems to actually be anti-conservative, demanding that institutions serve them and their political goals, instead of the country at large and actual principles.
