Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

I almost took umbrage for a moment!

I can see the troll element, but it seems peculiar to stick that notice out. Trump was definitely an acquaintance of Epstein, but so were many other famous people. The FBI regard most of them as targets to be his potential victims, rather than perpetrators.

Watch the revisionism kick into high gear now. The criticisms of the Trump admin over this case was not that he was innocent of the crimes they accused him of, it was that they did nothing to demonstrate those crimes before punishing him. Even if they go on to get a conviction on him now it does not justify what they initially did nor paint their critics in a poor light. In fact in many ways it makes it worse because it shows that they had due process and the legal system available to them and their chose to forgo it.

And that is before you even get to the issue of the dubiousness of the charges, with the prosecutor who leads the division bringing this case publicly resigning in protest over the decision yesterday.

What is a 400% reduction in cost? If a dozen eggs was $3, does the store now give you $9 to take them away?

Yes, clearly you need to do your research:

Egg prices are down 33.9% from their peak in March. At that rate they will be down 176% on an annualised basis. Because they are now cheaper, people will be buying twice as much, which makes it it 352%. Round up to the nearest hundred and that makes it 400%.

They still cost more than when he came to power, but that’s just fake news…

I put together a presentation last week to excuse my team’s failings that made a very similar argument so I’m going to have to say I buy it.

The guy defending Epstein is saying Trump is innocent. That’s all my doubts cleared.

MAGA calling to nationalise SpaceX is almost too perverse to be true. The cult of personality and the politics of spite has McCarthyism on the ropes.

It’s just the kind of scenario they’ve been dreaming of.

I hope California stops the flow of $ to the federal government. $80 Billion surplus a year, and the government, via ICE, is coming after Californians?

Cut the money off. ASAP.

Edit
New York should do the same. Another blue state that gives a big surplus back to the federal government.

ICE is like the Gestapo. It’s appalling. My daughter is about to travel overseas to be a bridesmaid. It’s a beautiful thing. But I half wonder if she should have her citizenship docs at the ready, since she will be crossing the border internationally.

That, and I’d get her a burner phone so that immigration doesn’t take her phone. Heard they’ve been doing that to check for anti Trump posting. Now is not a great time to travel internationally if you’re an American.

FIFY.
I’ve previously recommended to those I know in the US that they leave and Id repeat that for anyone here who has any ties/ability to leave that they should strongly consider doing so. You wouldn’t have wanted to stay in Nazi Germany after 1937 and we now have enough evidence of Republican/MAGA actions (just like after 4 years of Hitler) to realise things are only going to get worse.
