Early in this second term they designated Tren De Aragua a terrorist organization and to do that had to claim it had a direct association to Maduro. They used this to leverage existing anti-terrorism laws to would allow them to remove from the US any Venezuelan they claimed was TdA and do so without the normal due process. You know, like demonstrating they are are actually gang members. This is largely the group that got sent to CECOT in El Salvadorā¦a country where the president is actually in cahoots with the gangs
They are leveraging that earlier designation, but also recently changed focus to Cartel de los Soles to justify these operations on the fishing boats. It turns our Cartel de los Soles is just a term Venezuelans have used for a few decades to describe the corruption in their previous pre-Chavez government and no such organization exists.

The Venezuelans, a group who almost uniformly voted for him (US Venezuelans have almost identical politics to the Cubans) do. They are not yet a large voting block because the overwhelming majority of the arrivals have come relatively recently and using a path that doesnāt offer a quick path to citizenship/voting eligibility, but they as a group are very politically active. Especially in South Florida where they piggy backed on the infrastructure set up by the Cubans.

Venezuela is in real deep shit. The populations of many countries on the South American continent are āfed up to the back teethā with Venezuelans. Just look at Chile. Itās already ugly and this can only make it worst. 
When this was originally reported there were vigorous rejections, attacks on the press for making it up, and even a congressional hearing where promises were made that no such policy changes was going to be enacted

What triggered the raid was the video evidence the FBI received of them moving documents out of the room where they had claimed the documents in question were being stored. That video was received after the communications this story cites were sent, but their story ignores that the additional evidence these FBI sources were saying they needed was actually delivered to them justifying the raid.
This is not bad reporting. This is a piece designed to actively misinform its readers
