We’ll have to disgree on that point as I’ve not seen any indication that Putin sees a reverence for Russian heritage as a call for military expansion. He has repeatedly stressed the opposite though. A ceasefire in Ukraine may be impending and that would indicate he has no further desire for territory outside of influence over the Russian-speaking Donbas independent states. There’s a fair bit of petty nonsense regarding Harris, the campaign and the VP selection process that I dont think reflects well on him. But worst is his commentary on the vetting process. He claims he was asked if he had ever been an agent for the country of Israel and has suggested that it was antisemitic to ask that question of the only jewish candidate.
- he was not the only jewish candidate, so this framing is insulting and juvenile.
- he was asked not because he was jewish but because he fucking volunteered for the IDF in his youth and worked for the Israel embassy in DC
- Waltz was asked similar questions about China due to his time spent there
- It is a totally run of the mill question in the vetting for positions far less important than VP as seen with the totally non controversial questions asked of Waltz.

Hopefully, some drive and actual strategy can come out of this, but it is hard to be very optimistic since EUR will be in an internal bitch fight now, as to how far one should go to mollify Trump to save NATO etc. Because to deal with Russia without the US with so weak a militarty, well, it remains the actual big problem we have.
