One of the interesting things from Trump’s first term was how little he seemed to sell himself for. He was still stuck in underachieving construction mogul mode and didnt understand how valuable a sellable presidency was. The main lesson he learned from that term is how much more is on the table for him as a president who is willing to sell out US interests

The list of changes required is so long that it will approach a revolution in terms of the required change - simple example, ‘national security’ has been used as the justification for putting a tariff on kitchen cabinets. A law that prevents that really has to unwind nearly a century of shifting power from the legislative to the executive branch.

i have a guy at my work, who supports Donald,
(even got a pic of Donald on his desk, for a wind up)
told me 1 day that Donald is the 1st president who’s wealth decreased during his term (not sure if this is true). He tried to put it i way that Donald was so focused on been President, that he let his other business’s slide a bit.
it was the next day,( after thinking about it) i said to the guy that Donald lost wealth due to everything stopping due to Covid, not because he was so focused on the role of President.
the guy is still in a huff.
But anyway Donald is making up for it now!

He is so rich he cannot be bought. That was the line used by easy marks in 2016 arguing he is going to DC to clean up the system. Even with all the evidence to the contrary, they just cannot readjust their perspective.

Take a look at the scope of Presidential Immunity even relating to non-official acts and you can see why Trump believes he can do whatever he wants. He’s just taken the job to new levels of racketeering.

Well, they’d have to go against the precedent they just set, but, with this sitting court, almost anything is possible. I’d hope that a Democratic president following this shit show would bend over backwards to attempt to legislate this kind of immunity and corruption out of existence.

Exactly, and all POTUS has to do if charged with unofficial acts is find anything remotely related to official acts and then the evidence cannot be used. It’s a free pass.

It would be fascinating to see how much flights have dropped off. Six month ago I was flying to Canada.
The cheapest and shortest flights were via New York. I opted for travelling an extra 5 hours and my company paying a few hundred more so I capsule fly via Vancouver instead.

Yeah the USSC is not fit for purpose. To be honest the entire American system is not fit for purpose and will probably end up torn down.
It is about 10% Canada-US, with Canadian carriers seeing a higher percentage than that. It is nowhere near uniform, the holiday destinations are seeing the largest swing - Las Vegas has about 2/3rds of the capacity it did in 2024.
It is genuinely amusing reading American media and seeing the frequent attribution of the fall to the ‘weak exchange rate’

I watched the Grammy’s. Not usually my thing but this is the joy of having a 22 year old daughter who tries to keep her dad somewhat up to date.
Trevor Noah was his usual self and didn’t do anything wrong. What sort of evil villain tweets directly in the direction of an entertainer to threaten him like this, over a nothing-burger of a joke? The answer, I suppose, is a thin-skinned mobster who currently has all the wheels of government and justice working for him.
