Shit, I somehow missed the Voting Rights Act Supreme Court case yesterday. People, this is bad. The Roberts court has been flagging their intention to do this since the Obama era, but they have now finally crossed that line and do so in an era of no shame, absurdist maps being redrawn and politically expedient times rather than solely in response to the new census.
As usual there are people imploring others to not over react, but Louisiana has already indicated they are going to immediately redraw their maps for the current elections despite voting having already started in the primaries. Florida had a map already primed to go on the expectation of this ruling that has “cracked” my district into one that would now take me about 2 hours of driving to cross through

In a normal administration that would be a multi month story. Remember the year long “controversy” over the failed launch of healthcare.gov, a website where the fuck up was simply that to couldnt handle the volume of traffic, but because not much else was going on and the opposition treated it like a scandal, the press did too. The fact this is WAY worse (it seems stupid to even say that because they are not even in the same category of “fuck up” - unqualified people, no vetting, potential ulterior motives behind their appointment, and actual demonstrable harm done) and wont be even a 1 day scandal is evidence of the idea that in government the best way to mask your incompetence is to do fucking LOADS of it so everything seems minor in comparison to yesterday’s scandal
