Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 4)

Sadly that’s suggesting a lot of countries care about the rule of law.

That only seems to be the case when your opponent is getting free Taylor Swift tickets and not a 5 million bung via some crypto criminal.

I’ve just turned it off for the third , and last , time. It’s absolute torture having to listen to his ramblings now.

Edit: Rubio looks like he wants to cry.

Not really, it is more a sad inditement that people are no longer able to look at a peice of shit and know that grabbing it will result in them getting shit smeared all over their hands

With Trump I prefer to watch anything that mocks him…

Perfect example

I haven’t posted any of the previous rants because I thought them unimportant, but this is now the 3d day in a row that he says versions of this and he tried to push Al-Sharaa to invade Lebanon twice before during the actual fighting (but Al-Sharaa ofc says no, as Syria cannot afford it).

But this is now the 3d day in a row he says this and he seems utterly obsessed with the idea. So now I am posting it, since it indicates that he will continue to press Syria to invade.

When there is a major trend of the same talking point, is no longer “nonsense” despite the idea being mindless and absolutely the last thing Syria wants to do (even though they ofc want to crush Hezbollah in theory).

This was yesterday, which I didn’t post because you know, it is stupid idea that no one else wants to happen but Trump.

And during the war he was “secretly” nagging Syria to invade several times, trying to buy them. Problem is, that Syria being dead broke, US has pressure points it could push.

And before anyone says “he’s right, Israel is beyond terrible and inhumane, so Syria would at least be better than Israel”.

Just no. No. No. If you think that, you are not thinking clearly. It would become a secterian shit show of enormous dimensions; religious war category type of shit show.

Yes absolute madness, could end up spreading all over the middle east creating absolute chaos. Any responsible ‘President’ proposing such madness has to be prepared to put hundreds of thousands of troops on the ground to help stop all sorts of really nasty shit going down.

Yes, it is literally the worst idea.

Send in battle hardened Sunni jihadists against battle hardened Shia jihadists (that the Sunnis in Syria hate). Sounds like a good time for the social fabric of a small vulnerable country.

It would also collapse Syria, which is why they are trying to say “please great leader Trump, understand that we cannot do this”. Syria cannot afford it. Syria struggles with an Israeli occupation, Alawite insurgency, Sunni mobs that are out to lynch former Assadites, Arab-Kurdish tensions , Druze seperatists and drug cartels. All of this after a very long and extremely brutal war. Syria only wants stability and peace and cannot afford to go on adventures and occupy Lebanon.

If Trump was looking for something that would be a lot worse than an Israeli limited invason, he seems to have found just that. Takes some skill, I have to add.

Frankly, Trump is terrifying. He finds the worst and most radical ideas and then tries to run with them and convince his fan club that it makes sense. God save us from this mad man.

On to something else. Dementia and lack of social skills, I suppose.

This really happened…

Al-Sharaa seems to have taken up the idea of responsible government - he may hate Hezbollah, but is absolutely aware of what a disaster it would be for the region in general, and the fragile Syria he is building in particular.

Absolutely. Lots of problems with him (he is an authoritarian obviously), but he has intelligence and wisdom and is trying his best to steady the broken ship of state (which must be lifted from the bottom of the sea first).

We knew this already (everyone in the MAGA sphere is calling it the Vance Deal), but it’s nice to see the Orangutan say it aloud, if a bit awkward to observe.

Marco doesn’t seem to love it though. But the lapdog on the left does.

he’s taking the piss,

he knows that people will get upset and react to what he says,

he revels in it

this is why he says these things,

Candace Owens, or whatever that evil thing is called; must take half the credit for this change of heart and mea culpa.

Re: Raw Story + BP Daily

Dr. John Gartner, a medical professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, said this week that Donald Trump represents the most severe case of psychological illness he has encountered in four decades of clinical work, and that the trajectory is worsening.

“In 40 years of clinical practice and almost 30 years of teaching psychiatric residents, I’ve never encountered a patient as sick as Donald Trump,” Gartner said on The Daily Beast’s podcast. “He’s so many standard deviations away from what we would normally consider normal, and that it’s coming to a head now is in his fantasies of being this military conqueror.”

Gartner, who has not examined Trump directly, has been tracking what he describes as accelerating cognitive deterioration. Earlier this year, he told iNews the decline was progressing “almost week over week” across four clinical indicators: language, memory, behavior, and psychomotor performance. Last month, he suggested the pattern was consistent with frontotemporal dementia, a condition characterized by disinhibition and impaired judgment.

On the podcast, Gartner connected that decline to what he sees as an increasing appetite for military confrontation. “He actually gets incredible gratification from destroying things and hurting people and feeling powerful through that,” he said. With poll numbers falling and the possibility of losing both houses of Congress, Gartner argued that Trump may look to his role as commander in chief as the one remaining source of unchecked power. “He will still be the commander in chief, and he’s going to want to exercise that power in a way that makes him feel powerful.”

Gartner described Trump as “grooming” the public for nuclear conflict, driven by what he characterized as sadism and a desire for historical notoriety as a military figure. Trump has previously compared himself to Napoleon, Alexander the Great, and Julius Caesar, Raw Story noted, despite never having served in the military.

Is that article new? I think I read something like that a while ago.
Maybe this is another person with the same opinion.

Ahhhh… not exactly sure, but it’s the first time i’ve stumbled into it

I just checked. Dr Gartner has been warning about Trump’s mental state for a while it seems. Not really surprising as the president’s been in decline for years and he was an idiot to begin with.

The military aspect is concerning. You would hope for strong generals to stand up to him, but there has been a concerted effort to gut the military and install sycophants. I think there is still enough resistance, especially against the worst excess that might countenance a nuclear option at some point, but it’s a disgrace that I’m not 100% certain that sanity will prevail.
