This is just an anecdotal observation, but Eagle-imbecile is one of the biggest MAGA influencers on Twitter. Also ticker and far more dense than Tirpitz-steel (we use that in Norway still).
I don’t really understand how these people become popular spokesmen, but they do.

I can’t believe that anyone could see American History X and come away with anything other than an anti-racist message, so I can only think that this is aimed at someone who hasn’t.

Yes, I concede it is absolutely possible that he thinks his audience is denser and stronger than the steel found in a Bismarck-class BB. But I swear to you, hand on heart, if you skim his timeline (mental health warning!), you will find that he is in fact as dense as Tirpitz-steel, and just as unbreakable when shown evidence that he is wrong.
But yes, on this occation, he may just be manipulative.
So if we operate on the basis that he use this example on this occation knowingly, that says something about his reach and audience.

I think we live in a moment where “influencing moments” affect and effect short and medium term outcomes. This picture and comment will gain a few, miss a few and ultimately have just the amount of impact this sort of thing is after.
Basically some souls will have been won with it, to affect and effect the now, whether this soul is held or not is neither here nor there. The conveyor belt is running, the production line in full swing and there is no shortage of R&D to come up with the next product.

Yeah, you are certainly correct. It’s the same in Norway too, on the nationalist right wing (which is deeply pro Trump, anti globalisation, pro Israel, anti Islam, anti immigration, often anti vaccine, extreme irrational hate towards the traitors in the Labour party; and culture essentialists who are totally clueless about the culture they seek to protect from contructivism).
But I wish I understood better how they could be “brought back” and why they are attracted to, what I consider, obvious idiocy. Nothing that is close to “mainstream” can convince them.

Interesting that Biden has just laid into Trump as well, well overdue, but good to see.
Trump’s 250th anniversary celebration is a total shit show. Critical background is this celebration had been in the planning for years but when Trump was elected he cancelled a lot what had already been planned and took over the planning with a MAGA aligned organizing group. Due to the politicization almost everyone who was already committed to plans has pulled out. And the State Fair that is currently being held on the mall has a large number of state delegations that refused to participate. Those states have been replaced with private orgs representing the state. And the group who stood in for North Carolina filled their booth with Confederate flag memorabilia, even inventing a version of the NC flag that included the confederate flag, something NC never actually did.
