In Florida we have this awful system where money from the state education budget is set aside to give to parents as a subsidy for paying for private school. This allows parents to send their kids to religious schools on the state dime. These Catholic schools are allowed to discriminate against gay and disabled students and have it not affect their qualification to receive these vouchers. But require vaccines and the state will threaten to remove you from eligibility to receive vouchers.

Trump has spent years claiming banks unfairly “debanked” him over his politics. Now Capital One has told a federal court the real reason it closed his accounts, and it has nothing to do with politics.
Here is what happened. Capital One is fighting a lawsuit brought by the Trump Organization and Eric Trump, who allege the bank shut down their accounts in 2021 because of its “woke” beliefs and a desire to benefit from the political mood after the January 6th riot. On Friday, Capital One answered in a court filing, and pointed to something very different.
According to the bank, it closed more than 300 Trump-affiliated accounts after months of analysis and a careful review by its anti-money laundering team, done in accordance with bank policies and regulatory guidance. In the filing, Capital One said the transaction patterns it identified were among the types of activity flagged by federal banking guidance. As Reuters reports, this marks the first time a bank has formally tied money laundering concerns to Trump’s family business.
Capital One has never accused the Trump Organization of illegal money laundering. But the bank called the Trumps’ claims of political targeting “misguided” and based on “cherry-picked quotations unsupported by the full context” of the documents before the court. The federal court in Miami has already tossed two versions of the Trump complaint, and Capital One says the latest one suffers from the same flaws.
It fits a pattern. Back in 2019, Trump sued Capital One and Deutsche Bank to stop them from sharing his financial records with Congress. And at Deutsche Bank, anti-money laundering staff reportedly flagged a set of transactions, only for executives to ignore them.
So the story Trump has been selling just ran into his own bank’s version of events. He wanted the public to believe he was a victim of political bias. Capital One told a federal judge it closed his accounts after its money laundering experts reviewed them. That is now on the record.

The only people who say the same thing to the courts as the main actors say publicly are those DoJ employees out of their depth who ultimately get called out and sometimes sanctioned by the court for lying. This been a very consistent theme of this admin.

Really interesting Dem primary in Michigan tonight between “outsider progressive” El Sayed and the establishment pick Stevens.
I first came across El Sayed back in about 2019, definitely before the covid times, from his really good public health podcast and have always found him really impressive. He is the sort of “progressive” who speaks in a way that makes normies understand they all actually want the same things and the policies are not crazy things to be scared of. So it’s weird to see him so commonly portrayed in the media as a radical. But he’s Arab and has long been a vocal critic of Israel’s conduct and for many people that is enough. His opponent has all the money supporting her (significant from AIPAC) and the establishment support but is going to struggle to pull it out.
There are going to be a lot of diagnoses of what is right/wrong with the Democratic party written before people wake up tomorrow regardless of who wins.
Abdul won 
This will be probably the race that will get the most attention moving forward. Its a swing state with an unusually strong GOP candidate and a state with the cracks in the Dem coalition are really prominent and this primary really pushed on those
Abdul is going to have a really tough time winning this general and you fear lots of the Dem establishment will be happier to sit back and let it happen so they can say I told you so rather than helping, or even learning from him how he beat them in them in the first place. But the flip side of that was the establishment lady outspent him 11 to 1 and still couldn’t generate enough support from within her party’s voters to win her race. The idea that is a recipe for success for success against a good GOP candidate in a general, especially when that money will flip to him at that point, is just a really bad read of the situation IMO.
Ultimately what Schumer et al need to wrestle with is this is the second high profile race this cycle where they have gone all in on propping up a candidate not good enough to justify such committed support who then lost to someone arguing there needs to be a better way for the Dems to move forward.
The current cope appears to be that he under performed a series of late polls that showed him having a huge lead. But these are polls no one believed in real time yet lots of establishment arguments are now veering towards “they purposefully demoralized Stevens’ voters into not voting by convincing them she was too far behind.”
Anything but learn why their preferred candidate was so uninspiring the voters.
This takes a lot to unpack, but here you have an establishment guy (head of Digital strategy for Biden 2024 reelect and later Harris) mocking abudul’s performance with working class voters and how his supporters are responding to that. You would never believe that his candidate, the one who got all the money in support, actually lost.

Here is another one. You would be easily mistaken to learn that Stevens lost. She, the sitting congresswoman with all the major in state and nationwide establishment endorsements and propped up with an 11 to 1 spending advantage lost to the guy who was smeared as being an anti semite and islamist. Yet somehow the take is that we’ve been proven right that she was in fact a good candidate.
