Thank goodness my wife retired from her fed position just before the Tangerine Twat took over again. She says that morale in her old offices is beyond negative, and though they havenāt been targeted like other offices, yet, many are planning their off ramp now. All her friends still in service are disgusted, and beaten down, most just counting the days until they can retire with full benefits. Hoping those benefits will still exist.

Grad school friend was about as high up in EPA as you can get without being in Washington, and was eligible to retire with a full pension as of December 2024. It was not in his plans, as he loved his role having joined EPA right out of grad school and is still in his 50s. He has turned down promotions in the past in order to stay right where he was, at the intersection of field work and policy in the region. His first DC meeting post-inauguration made it fairly clear where everything was heading.
His one regret was not sticking around to try to shelter some of his younger staff, but is fairly sure it would have been impossible. Now he is mulling over starting an NGO to try to preserve as much of the clean air/clean water function as possible, in hopes of creating something where some of those otherwise career staff can continue.

Me, a guy who has strong opinions but doesnt do any of the learning to earn them, was strongly wrong then and nothing that has happened, all things I have ignored because I dont actually pay attention to what is happening, has changed my mind.

This became predictable the moment Susan fucking Collins came out and declared she wasnāt voting for Blanche. Collins demonstrates her āintendentā streak in voting against her party only when he has been assured that her vote doesnt matter.

Well he was Trump backed so we can assume he was the worst candidate but by how much is less sure.
Just Trump doing what he likes because he can get away with it.
Wonder if he would be so low key if someone mined on one or more of his golf courses, that would start WW4,he is already working on WW3!
I doubt it makes a jot of difference in the long run. Had he not been confirmed Trump would have just kept him in post as Acting AG and then landed on another sock puppet once he had time limited out. At least with Blanche the Dems now have a useful foil to aim at. It shouldnāt be too hard to make the case of him and Trump being partners in crime.
To a degree. My fruistration is more around the theatre of Collinsā famous independent streak. It is predictable that now sheās in a tough reelection race, after being a rubber stamp for so many of Trumpās excesses, sheād be thrown some opportunities to pretend to be a bulwark.
Anyway, this story is incredible. I heard a bit about it, but didnt realize the extent of how bad a campaign Smith ran

He is suggesting vaccines that do not currently have individual approval,how long would it take to get it?

The farce continues, seems Trump hid in a catering truck in Turkey because of some apparent fears with his plane, this reminds me of a certain PM who seemed to be up for hiding in fridges.

All over the news,story seems Iran was after him,so panic set in and they changed planes and moved him in a catering van.
