I used to live in the greater New York area at the time and work right near the WTC. It was obvious that the air was toxic. I used to play football with some local lads at Battery Park City. Obviously nobody was really in the mood to play regularly in the aftermath but the smell annd air quality in the area was telling.

Market appears to be calling Bessent’s bluff. The critical 10-year yield ended yesterday having nudged above 4.85%, and crept higher to 4.88% in overnight trading. At North American open, it plunged downward to 4.79% on what was almost certainly US government buyback transactions, then immediately spiked over 4.9% and seems to be semi-stable there. The problem will be Trump is not semi-stable.
For context, a 0.01% increase in yields cost the US government just under $4 billion of interest.
The suggestion that every American is going to get a $5000 payment if the election goes in Trump’s favour is probably not much of a help, given that the US would have to borrow that money. With 200M or so taxpayers, that would be another trillion of spending.
What Andreesson had been saying on his podcast tour was so obviously bullshit, but this is a textbook Biden administration response to let shit heads slander you with stuff that is patently bollocks but still somehow is moving the needle in public discourse and do nothing about it until it is way too late

Trump some how, always, manage to remind you how much more serious historical villains that we often deem “crazy”, were in comparison. That’s not good, I would rather laugh at Hitler, but he was an absolute genious with 0 delusions compared to Trump.
