The agreement doesn’t do what Trump claims, but it is a base expansion deal
So basically indicating to the world that threats work.
I don’t think they are related and the Russian sanctions deal has been framed strangely by bbc. This was not his initiative but a bill passed by congress. There was debate over whether it would pass because it includes language that gives him power to unilaterally back out of the sanctions without congress’ approval
Someone released video of him inside the Ag committee meeting and has to be weekend at Berniesed to cast his vote correctly
We then saw a vacant shell of a man wheeled into his car afterwards

Early on Greenland and Denmark said America could expand its base/s there, but the sovereignty of Greenland was fixed and not up for discussion.
Is this just that? Or is it something more?

Other than the explicit guarantee of no Chinese or Russian bases, I’m not sure the agreement does anything. The US Military bases in Greenland are a fraction of the size they were as recently as the 1980s and the United States had the right to simply reopen those

Basically it feels they underlined something in a NATO agreement and Trump’s treating it as a great win as Iran hits Saudi Arabia again.
Though I’m incredibly biased and think Trump just lies, the problem here is he hasn’t yet disproved that.

I think because he is meeting with such resistance from the American public regarding his ‘ego’ projects, he is wording their needs now, more of a rapid response facility for the ‘inevitable’ hostile attacks America should be gearing up against from foreign foes… Same/similar tactic has been used on his ballroom, stroke safety bunker, in an attempt not to just fend off the poor public opinions… but so they can be cited as urgent measures to be adopted, in order to bypass and ride roughshod over the rule of law in place that would be preventing him from building such monstrosities…
