So fucking minor compared to the republican shite it’s not worth fussing about. The dems and the media need to stop holding themselves to different standards than they do the deplorables

Hard working republicans. There’s an oxymoron

Frankly terrible take. Competency is table stakes for an opposition party right now and the stakes are too high to ignore such a clear demonstration of someone in an important position lacking it. This is barely a blip to media and you’re only going to see much discussion of it from social media of people involved in democratic politics expecting better from the people running key orgs of the party and doing so because they understand the importance of not fucking up what is coming next.

Focusing on debating the reasons they lost the last election is a waste at this point. The democrats need to go on the attack for the survival of democracy in the US. Anything else is extraneous at this point.

That isn’t what this story is about though. They havent been able to get onto the debate big because of rank incompetence and trust eroding lying about it.

At this point it needs to be walked past. Otherwise its just internal navel gazing and distraction from where they should be focused. Trust erosion in this environment just can’t be about being completely pure and clean - otherwise come an election, they can be sunk by any minor scandal (ala Hilary Clinton) when the deplorables commit felonies for fun and boast about it.

I genuinely dont know what you’re talking about. The guy who leads one of the key arms of the party raised money to do a thing (ignore how important you think the thing is) then didnt really do it, showed incredible lack of judgement in how we went about trying to do it, then lied about it. He and his org have a big role to play in ensuring a Dem wins the next presidential election and his actions have eroded trust in his ability to do that job. Critically, eroded trust from the people he needs support from for him to be able to do his job effectively. When a big part of your job is fund raising, lack of credibility is fatal and we are already seeing this reflected in the poor state of its current finances.

This is not about the contrast to republicans you are trying to make it into. It is about whether there is going to be one of the key pillars of a Democratic presidential candidacy in place and properly funded

Its a test whether they can still get support - because their core message is too important, regardless of poor judgement/untruths - or potential donors will prefer to stay away because they are still playing using pre trump expectations and rules. The sooner this is shaken out the better TBH. The democrat candidate for 2028 won’t be elected because of his/her virtue; they will be elected on the basis of the existential threat that they oppose.

You seem to only be able to view this through the lens of controversy, which is a misunderstanding of the relevance of this story. I’ll leave it there though
