Even if Collins continues to argue that none of this is illegal (and her denials so far in the Navatek dont seem to be addressing the actual evidence ProPublica are reporting) you can still say the best this says for her is that she’s “gone DC”, which is probably more damaging for her in a Maine race.

All analyses showed the “she is for they/them, Trump is for you” was a devastatingly effective ad. However it worked not because people were down to demonize trans people, some obviously are, but that is not why this ad had the broad impact it had. Instead its effectiveness was because it contrasted an alleged interest in focusing on silly shit vs the things voters need their electeds to focus on. It was heard as an argument of “when you cannot afford anything, this is what they choose to spend their time on?”
By continuing this sort of ad with the economy continuing to get worse, and doing so on the back of GOP policies, they unwittingly putting themselves in the seat they previously successfully put Harris in.

He seems slightly ahead, the more shit that is piled on her, the less active those voters she has will bother. They probably won’t switch but I do think a few of these senate seats are now effectively get your vote out.
The race polling as very close, but in a state that is notoriously difficult to poll and against a cockroach of a candidate who has never been more vulnerable. It is bad that in this environment the Dem isn’t doing better, and a lot of that seems to come from him personally polling poorly. That suggests there is a “Im done with Collins and don’t care who the other guy is” constituency, but that is a not a strong position to be in with a weak relatively unknown candidate whose flaws will only become more apparent the close we get to election day. He’s got the credentials on paper a consultant would look for, but he’s just not good with people. He’s a bore. Now he’s the spotlight in an important race he is attracting a lot of attention its increasingly looking like it might be too big for him with some recent reporting about how he is getting swallowed up by a DC consultant class, which is probably the worst thing a faceless uninspiring candidate could have happen to them in a state like Maine.

He utterly embarrassed himself with his demonstration of, in the words of the great Julia Garner from Ozark, not knowing shit about fuck. Any sense that he had the capacity to grow into a legitimate candidate on the campaign trail was obliterated in that nonsense of a performance from a guy so out of his depth that he would be dangerous. Then it ended and there was genuine debate about who “won” and discussion of the various ways Clinton might have failed to connect in coming across as “too prepared”

Jack Smith went in front of Congress today for Republicans to pursue their claims that he purjered himself in earlier testimony. One of the GOP senators hit him with what thought was a gotchya, presenting evidence he was in fact in Atlanta (conspiring with Fanni Willis over the George election case) leaving Smith confused because its a totally made up story. Smith eventually realized that they were presenting evidence of him being in Maryland watching Iowa (hawkeyes) mistakenly thinking that placed him in Atlanta to watch the Hawks. It’s a devastatingly embarrassing fuck up, yet they are now just running the play in their SM channels as if the attack landed
Here it is. 2-3 minutes of Smith having no idea what they are talking about. Then after 2-3 mins of them talking about something else it clicks and he says he can explain the text messages. No apology. No accountability. Just more yelling and name calling from the GOP senator who is somehow maintaining the position that even though his facts are wrong he is in the right.
