No, I’ll stay here thanks. Cheating Italian twats!!
Everything oké Nostradamus?
Give Morata time to think and you know he will fuck up, ask any Chelsea supporter.
Very impressed with Dani Olmo. Pity that he was one of the player missing his penalty.
We are buddy buddy with RB Leipzig, right?
I know what you mean, but I almost threw up my Grappa when I read that
Damn right we are he was superb, Italy never managed to nullify him.
I think the commentator mentioned that no team in Euro (maybe only this Euro?) has won 2 successive penalty shootout. So, Italy would be praying that the final won’t be decided by penalties.
Best player on the pitch tonight by a country mile imo. He was superb.
Grappa, part of me is still suffering from a night on that poison. Granted you’re not supposed to drink it by the pint.
He made about 30 fouls and that horrible ref let hem get away with it.
They sound just like us over much of the last eighteen months.
Great game of football. Really enjoyed it. Once it went to penos, well ll it had to be Italy didn’t it?
Didn’t care too much who won but Bonucci and Chiellini defend like their lives depend on it. I reckon they’d kick their granny’s to stop a goal.
Spain play much more exciting footy to watch under Enrique. That’s a young team with some great players.
Italy are going to struggle to replace Bonucci and Chiellini.
Mancini’s Italy set up and playing like Klopp’s Liverpool. Minus the diving and playacting. No wonder they’ve made the final.
Pedri on the other hand, looks like a generational talent. Shame that Barcelona snapped him up.
Just talking about this with the lad. The players are absolutely knackered. Too much football.
This was a great game to watch. As far as semi finals go, I can’t think of a better one. But my memory isn’t great…
I thought Spain were really good and clearly the better team over 90 and 120 minutes, but once it got to penalties I thought Italy would win it. When you have a goalkeeper who saves a third of penalties he faces, the odds will often be on your side. Unai Simon is a good penalty stopper as well, but apparently more like one in four.
Italy tried to press in the first half but Spain moved the ball too well, and after half time they just gave up and sat back instead. It was probably the sensible adjustment to make, to avoid running themselves into the ground for nothing. Impressive display from Spain I thought; superior ball movement, and they also matched Italy in terms of energy.
For the sake of the final - if England get there - maybe Italy getting through was the best thing…? Had Spain won this, I guess the game picture would already have been decided, with Spain having the ball and England sitting back from the start and look to hit them on the break. And then we’d be dependent on Spain getting the first goal for the game to open up. Now though, I’m not quite sure. England seem to be much better when they don’t have to dictate the game with the ball, so maybe that would be their approach anyway. Again, if…if…they go through.
It was a fascinating contest. For me, Spain were better in almost all departments, but were found lacking in the one which counts in the end: scoring goals. Had they a Fernando Torres or a David Villa in their ranks, they’d walk this tournament with ease imo.
Italy did what Italy does well so often in tournaments: hang in, weather the storm and then take their chance at the end. It’s their solid team spirit which saw them go through, credit to them for that.
Ironically, Spain probably played their best game of this tournament.
Noticed that pattern emerging and it is in Euro History, mind you this is the second time it’s happened at a tournament the other being in 1996 when England lost after winning a previous shootout and France won and lost a shootout.
Yup this was Spain’s best game, they’ve looked rather meh up to now.
Yeah I watched it
