Speaking as a kid of a German immigrant, I admire your optimism. :sob:

Full transparency, I haven’t been filled with much hope but after hearing all the doubters, I am fully behind them.

I listen to Football Ramble podcast, they’re already looking ahead and all “hoping” England will draw Germany after the group stages as they seem to feel it will be easy passage. Was mildly annoying.

Storm in a tea cup? Made up story by the press to sell paper / digital subscription? Similar to the type of non-stories between Mo and Sadio?

If you play Mbappé’s interview backwards, he actually says “Fuck it; I’m joining Liverpool on a Bosman next year anyway.”

I’m actually really excited for the tournament to get underway.

If Germany go out I will support Netherlands or Poland, with my dark horse being Finland.

Same I’m actually just going enjoy it as a tournament of football I don’t have to worry about too much, spent the last three years watching us knowing that every game felt like it mattered (bar about four last summer).

Don’t think I have ever watched a tournament before without having a favorite team. Holland used to be my favorite European side in recent years, but they are utterly uninspiring, and FdB, urgh

Portugal looks nice (not in their Zebra United kit though), though with a suspect defense.

I guess I will just cheer for teams with our players in their ranks.

Support Wales… we need it

I think Belgium will do well

No worries mate, I would want nothing more than Wilson having a great tournament. :money_mouth_face: :star_struck:

I worked out that it will be France against Spain int final and both Scotland and Wales getting out of their group?

I’m fine with it, better international football than no football at all. So I’m looking forward to it, but even more so when Liverpool get back and start their season. That’s my priority.

Not so excited anymore about Croatia at major tournaments or overall like when I was a kid or 16 or so, but will still cheer them naturally like I always do and watch the vast majority of the whole tournament.

Idemo! :croatia:

What? Why! :grimacing: :flushed:

Man, you are lucky to have your national team playing in major tournaments regularly.

And doing fairly well too

A lot of politics and corrupt/suspicious things involved in that FA, mainly that off the pitch stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still fully behind them when they play, but when you’re a kid you just don’t know/care about the whole story behind the scenes.

And yeah, their average results since the independence has been quite good. Sometimes they can surprise, sometimes they underachieve a little bit like not qualifying or not getting past the group stages. But overall, yeah, they’re doing well.

You could even say: stunningly well, given that your country isn’t the largest in the world (your population number is for instance around half that of Switzerland), but still manages to produce masses of huge talent, generation after generation. :+1:t2:

I have absolutely no expectations this time, Germany might be eliminated after the preliminary round or go all the way to the final. Who knows. :upside_down_face:

Hopefully, as often in the past, there will be a surprise team. I would like to see a team that nobody expects to get far.
