I think there is a perception of him on here that is overly influenced by how much trouble he has given us. He is undoubtedly talented, but hugely inconsistent. That’s why he became largely an impact player for Pep rather than a trusted starter and why he missed out on the squad in 2018. He’s since gone to Bayern and not exactly pulled up any trees there.

I think Turkey was just hyped. Their best player was a 36-year old.

Yet Germany were about 20 minutes away and Wales qualified as second and Portugal as third.
With just two teams going through that doesn’t happen.
If a format needs changing next time it’s the Copa America.
I still remember that shootout. Shilton didn’t get near any of them.

If you class David De Gea as number one you have to go all the way down to Prickford when finding an English goalkeeper.
You look at who is there this season and though I think Pope is underrated the rest have massive question marks.
Prickford has actually done well this tournament so no doubt he has a mistake coming and with England’s lack of firepower it no doubt will finish them off.
