Depends on how high you rate Löw. But then people usually point to a World Cup win and a good run in tournaments before that and who the f*** are you anyway, which is fair enough I suppose.
I do think his tactics tend to be somewhat risky. Even 2014 Germany could have easily lost against Algeria and he probably would have been fired. Instead he won the WC, that’s football for you. Southgate seems to be on the opposite end of the risk taking spectrum. Honestly, don’t even have a gut feeling what is going to happen there, individually I don’t think there is a real gap between the two sides overall imo.
I think Low has looked kind of directionless the last few years, where he doesnt see a good way around the personnel limitations he has. As a result he just keeps doing stuff in the hope something clicks. It’s admirable in a way because many other managers would just keep putting out the same players and then relying on the fact he’s picking the best players so its not his fault, but on the other hand you’d think other managers would go and find a solution and then commit to finding a way to make it work.
Got to worry about someone who thinks it’s fine to cheat on your pregnant girlfriend.
Regards England vs Germany, there’s not much to choose between the two sides. And the Germany has better players all over the pitch is biased and a matter of opinion of course.
England’s problem as I said before is Southgate. He’ll send them out conservatively and they may scrape a win but will probably get beat in the usual, we gave it a good fight, however we were unlucky British bulldog spirit.
Trent Gomez Hummels ?
Kimmich Henderson Gündogan
Müller Kane Sancho
-
both BackUp goalkeepers would also be German
-
Hummels for his experience.
-
please someone tell me that Shaw is not the best choice here
-
Hendo and Müller have been underrated throughout their careers but they proved people wrong over and over again. Yes, there are younger and 'better‘ english and german players out there but I’m going for experience and mentality again.
-
Sancho was a close call. Could have picked many others (Sterling, Greenwood, Rashford, Havertz, Werner [as a LW he is good], Foden)
As for personnel who are in both the squads , that rules out Trent and Gomez
Goalkeepers: Manuel Neuer
RB : Kimmich
RCB - Rudiger
LCB - Hummels
LB - Close one between Chillwell and Gosens , But i’ll give it to Chillwell
CM - Goretzka , Jude Bellingham , Kroos
RW - Sterling
ST - Muller
LW - Saka
I think a case might well be made that the three England players except Sterling are the persons who are debatable and can be replaced with germans easily.
We surely are however proud of it!
Surely both managers negate any advantage each squad might have. Haven’t you been watching Germany?
Imo it`s a bit absurd to compare the previous group games of the German team with England. Who knows how England would have played against France or Portugal and whether England would have qualified at all. England only scored 2 goals in the supposedly weaker group tbf.
But both teams have ‘Luft nach oben’
Absolutely
Sitting on the fence is really uncomfortable, so I’m going to decide according to the best interests of LFC. Therefore I will be supporting Germany so that Hendo can get a rest and avoid injury. That means England are now certain to win…
It’s absurd because who knows if England could have stepped up the pace? Different horses for courses.
What is also absurd is to suddenly start claiming that nearly every German player is better than every English player. There’s top class players in both teams. I maintain the difference will be Southgate.
If he’d have had a more positive attitude England would have been beaten by France in the world Cup final.
No way almost every German player is better than the English counterpart.
Especially with some of ours out of form (Werner, Sane, Gnabry) and some others past their prime (Müller, Hummels, Kroos, Neuer).
Absolutely, just to be clear. I think Germany will win. They are experts at tournament football as they proven time and again. Have a very strong mentality and of course top class players. Belgium number 1 team in the world? Nonsense. Very good team but tournament football so far (history) has found them out.
A bit like judging England’s chances based on the way they qualify for each tournament.
Who even said that? Must’ve missed it.
Neco and Wilson lost some market value after that game, now it’s up to Shaq to cover that loss. All of our other tournament players are transfer untouchable.
They may not all be better at football based on talent and current form than England, but if you factor in the 20 point IQ gap in every position, it certainly looks much more like Germany’s game.
Interesting, though not totally fair to non-European teams:
Only France, Belgium and Switzerland have qualified for the R16 in the last 4 big competitions including this one.
How about replacing it with badger? Fairly tame as an insult right? A lot of women use the word twat to insult men?
