Even the Jacquet’s French side that is now remembered so fondly for winning in 98 was actually a pretty boring side. They grew into a really attractive side afterwards, but it was like they needed to get the monkey off their back before they opened up and started playing football. And that was a side with far fewer flaws than this one.
A bit boring but at least England are ahead.

Don’t see anything wrong with England’s tactics to be honest. I’m not the greatest fan of Southgate but I think he knows his attacking players are very very good. Give them a solid platform, slow, slow then they quicken the pace.

It’s a game of chess at the moment. The Ukrainians want to stay in the game. England have shown a few flashes of attacking flair that will keep the Ukrainians playing it safe. If it’s still 1-0 with 15 mins to go, Ukraine will have to be more adventurous. Then it depends if England can keep their heads and take advantage of more space or will they panic.

I’m quite enjoying this to be honest. I want England to win, I always feel England will shoot themselves in the foot, so I expect them to get beat, no pressure at all. Not like watching my beloved LFC at all.
So, if England win, I’ll be quietly happy, if they get beat, ah well I’ll watch the tennis.
