Kurze Frage zur Deutschsprache: Was bedeutet HE bei einem Elfmetertor?

I think it might be Handelfmeter

Hope the AFD hated that.

What do you guys make of germanys performance yesterday (or actually so far in the tournament)?

Expecting the quarter final vs Spain on Friday - do we stand a chance?

Bought the previous German away kit as it was on offer in SD and I’ve become a bit of a lover since my Berlin visit.

The kit is also stunning.

Definitely among the favourites, but the standard in general is pretty poor in comparison to previous tournaments. Germany are pretty strong all over the pitch. They had a bit of luck against Denmark, but were deserved winners.

Apparently there’s some kind of controversy because a newsreader with a Turkish background wore the pink shirt on air. It seems that this shirt is now a symbol of opposition to the AFD. I remember when I first came to Berlin seeing left wingers in Kreuzberg booing the German national team, now it’s seen as left wing to support them. Crazy days.

We’ll see what Spain does tonight, but after the previous performances I think they would be the favourites against Germany.
I think the German team is good offensively, but a better opponent might expose them defensively, particularly the full backs. Personally would be happy if they could at least keep it a close game against Spain (if they make it tonight).

Yeah, it’s crazy how times change. I think the AfD fear (almost) nothing more than that team doing well. While, as you say the shirt is like a sign of opposition, that team and the DFB represent as everything that’s going wrong with the country for the ‘right wingers’.

Spain look like a side exquisitely well put together to outplay their opposition while losing. For all their attacking talent, neither Williams nor Yamal are reliable sources of goals, and you’re not putting money on a team if Morata is your main source of goals. Germany would have to play well and weather some pressure, but I think they match up pretty well against them.

Yes, they do seem like two flawed teams. Primarily by the fact that one relies on Havertz and the other on Morata for goals…

Possibly. For all the attacking talent in the German team, they’re not exactly stacked with natural goal machines either. Although they have surprised me with more directness in this tournament.
Relying on a high line with slow Kimmich and Raum/Mittelstädt as fullbacks is highly risky imo.

Southgate is quadrupling down on the idea that the incoherent side just needs time to gel
