Incredible, isn’t it? This is so typically Italy: playing in a mediocre way, struggling but fighting, on the brink of being maybe out of the tournament, and then, in the last second, they produce that little jewel to get them through and put the knife into their opponents’ hearts.
They’ve done it in the past, but I feel for Croatia today. What a terrible way to go out… 
I hope that our friend @Zoran has recovered from it by now!
So it will be Switzerland - Italy. A nice ‘derby’ between two teams who have played countless times against each other. I’m looking forward to see if Italy wait as long as against Croatia before they throw us out of the tournament!

Andre Previn on Morecambe and Wise. Those were the days, bit of Saturday night family tv together. I sound like a dinosaur now, but everyone is on demand on their own devices, streaming their own content, and we have lost something doing that.
Anyhow, it’s a good Southgate reference! Whatever England manages to do it will be in spite of him. The level of the players and the level of the manager is a mismatch.

The England fans above, singing f-off Tartan Army, make me cringe. There’s an edge to it that, in a different set of circumstances, could boil over into trouble.
The Euros have been a celebration of football, and the different fans have entered into it in the right spirit. In a world that is increasingly divided and dangerous, that has been a real lift. We’ve seen some good stuff from the football fans, with the Tartan Army most prominent in that, and they have been a credit.
Those English idiots (I say that as an Englishman, although I am dual citizen these days) just come across as nasty little Brexiteers, and when I see it, I can quickly assess, “They are not my people.”
