I find it slightly (but only very slightly, this isnāt a massive deal for me) concerning that we may not get to sell Nunez and now itās late in the window. This may well mean that he is priced too high by the club (I mean, I would never buy him for 50-60 mil +, so if the club demands such money for him, we cannot unload him, unless itās to intoxicated Saudis).
Overall, the transfer window has been a dream for us (at least we have spent money like drunk sailors, so not a single soul can complain about spending), but itās not ideal if Nunez remains a main attacking option for this club. In my view, anyway. I would have thought we would be willing to sell him for 20-30 mil. But seems notā¦
We have already signed Ekitike who presumably moves ahead of Darwin in the pecking order. If he stays as the primary backup CF option that is certainly not the end of the world - at his best for us he offered a lot as well as being a very different type of player.
I do struggle to see how we bring in Isak without Darwin leaving thoughā¦ which would be the ideal window. Of course Iām shocked we are still in for Isak after buying Ekitike so I clearly donāt have my mind wrapped around the plan Hughes and Slot are pursuing.

If we have no takers for Darwin Nunez this summer, I would rather send him on loan than sell for a fee that is too low.
He has three years left on his deal, and a decent loan, where hopefully he would score goals and do well, would boost his value for a sale next summer.
If the loan is not successful then fine, we are selling a player at a low value next summer with two years left on his deal, rather than for a low value this summer with three years left on his deal.

I think he will end up going to the Saudis this summer. Most of the European strikers they may have been interested in are going to other European clubs, and Darwin might be one of only a few high profile options left at the end of the summer that the Saudis might turn to.
What weāve seen lately is that the league isnāt necessarily a retirement league, as a few players are moving on to good clubs to further their careers post-Saudi, and that could be Darwinās goal if he goes there too.

Many of the names on that list are tight-asses (a couple of them famously so, while others, like WitzĆøe who inherited everything, less so). Some day, someone will be looking at this comp and wondering how it was possible that the lad was scoring all of these unbelievably difficult goals with both feet and his head, almost without actually scoring simple tap-ins. For Heavenās sake, he scored a backheel goal against prime Real Madrid and prime Courtois between the sticks!
Therein lied one of his issues, I guess - and itās telling how his output fell off a cliff after his goal against Sheffield United. I wish him nothing but the best - unless heās playing against Liverpool obviously (which he also expertly did on two occasions).
