Ex-player: Naby KEITA

If he is available all the times but produces a gini-like display, the vitriol wouldn’t be too bad. If he is not available 100% of the time but produces some genius moments, the vitriol wouldn’t be too bad too.

If he is not available all the time, don’t really deliver the goods, the vitriol wouldn’t be too bad as well. But if he got his agent to get news out in Germany that he is unhappy with not playing much, then probably he deserves to get criticised.

No problem but I’m just opposed to giving him a new contract.

If Dortmund are actually interested, can we swap* for Bellingham and get it done before window closes!?

*Ie. Naby value reduces Bellingham fee down to a more plausible ~80m pounds.

Except he does deliver.

And we know that… how? It’s just more speculation by people eager to pile in, and whether it was the agent or the journalists who wanted the clicks, it doesn’t matter, because the right idiots took the bait.

So everyone who does believe an agency would leak stories to the press is an idiot?

Keita’s career here in 4 tweets…

And Florian Plettenberg is a shit stirrer to get more clicks.

That information has come from somewhere… You are naive if you think it’s not from Keitas agency. Just like Edwards/Ward use the liverpool based journo’s to get their “view” out into the public.

Has anyone else considered that the way this come about, the suddenness, the expression of shock in the club, the mysterious illness just prior to the injury, that this might be something much more serious than a football injury?

I really, really hope for Naby’s sake, and for the sake of a few of you lads, this is just something picked up on the pitch.

Not sure what you’re alluding to?

Let’s be careful slagging him off. I hope I’m wrong but something about this latest injury doesn’t feel right to me.

I’m not blaming Keita for his injuries but surely at this point in your career, you realize that maybe it would be better to move on from the PL for the sake of your career and health?

Yeah that’s a bit of a stretch. If it was something really serious that’s threatening his career then the Club is doing him a disservice by not releasing info as ire is going to be directed at him and at the Club for not looking to get in someone else in a vacuum of silence. If they were to release he took a minor to middling injury that is keeping it out the fan base will go absolutely bonkers at him, and at the Club for not getting a replacement seeing as he is the definition of unreliable. I think deafening silence is more likely to be the latter rather than the former and the Club, and him, should deservedly be getting pelters for it given his recent utterings.

There is the third option and I personally hope it’s a move going on. I’ve had just about enough of hoping Naby lad can get his boots on reliably and consistently for when we are in need.

Completely agree. But can you clarify where you saw ‘serious injury’?

For all we know, Naby could suffer from mental illness. Even a serious form. I wouldn’t be making assumptions, and as you say, him having an ‘illness’ immediately followed by a serious injury makes me think this is not all it seems.

A few of the reliable beat journos have tweeted that the club are worried that Naby has had a serious injury.

What would that be?

But I’ve already asked myself if the kind of half-arsed performance the lads produced the other day could have something to do with something particularly nasty happening prior to the game. We have already seen that, when a player gets off with a broken leg for instance, it can affect the performance of the whole team.

Anyway, fingers crossed that it is just the usual harmstring injury or so, and that he’ll come back soon! :crossed_fingers:

Something like Krawietz two-footed tackle from behind after Keita failed to track back during practice match?

That would be enough to put him out for at least two years.

Career-ending right there…

We all had high hopes for the young man to take on the illustrious #8 jersey. Sadly, it was a bridge too far for poor Naby-Lad.

Like others had high hope for Naby when he arrived.
However he has had some great games, been injured a lot and had a number of forgettable games.
Doubt he could be regarded as a good return on investment, unless his injuries can be managed successfully.
Meantime we need another class mid.
